Tell them how you feel about the branding. That was your money, and you have the right to voice out your criticism.
Thanks.

okay
it's very questionable.
But I don't think the unlimited thing is a write off because it's so open ended -- we do not know where the city will be going in the next 5-10 years. So whatever crazy things come up, this can be molded to fit that.
Someone posted before there about I(H) NY being like the only hype brand for a city
Now we have something different, something to catch attention, and definately something a bit modern.Rock on TO

either way, I'm not big on that logo
- Fizik0
oh ya
mind you,
I am fairly concerned about two things:The Bahamas thing being so close (and much better fitted for them)
and that link to the designer who had the line about being similar to God on his site. wtf?!

i used to have respect for TBWA - and tried to get in there once upon a time - glad i didnt. Dont know how they would let this one off the drawing boards.
As for Brand Architecture International, i have had experience with so called "branding" companies. They all do a shit ass job at the actual design phase. Their research, and putting together all the info is great, anyone can do that, but they all seem to have terrible execution problems.
After the government spending this much cash - there will not likely stop this campaign. Its a shame. But whatver ,thats life. Stuff like this slips through - too bad it had to be this big, especially in a city as big as, as beautiful as, and as important as our beloved TORONTO.
The only way i can see around this is if a bunch of people, designers, media, agencies, and printers, got together and did the job properly, and launched their own grassroots campaign, drawing more attention to it..

These types of projects need to be opened up.
They need to run these things as open (or even limited/invitational) competitions with a process that is very transparent.

I agree, completely

It's quite bad, but I don't really care...it's par for the course in this lame city...

"13 months, 250 interviews, 4,500 contributions from Torontonians, 14 focus groups in 3 countries."
Sounds like the untimate design by bureaucracy project. No wonder it looks the way it does.
Don’t be to quick to slam to designers. We’ve all been there. A great idea that gets diluted and revised by commitee until it is mediocre and bland.

It's just a little disappointing, much like Toronto.

i know the sun is a rag of a newspaper, but her is an article about the logo.

im so tempted to print little sperm tails, go downtown and plaster them on top left corner of the logo and replace "unlimited" with "designers against bad design."
hahaha
- doggy0
OK - no slamming TO here. If you have lived in "some" of the other bigger cities in Canada you will soon realize how hott TO is.
fusion41 - i agree - us designers do have to deal with a few bad directions every once and a while.

It's funny how the negative of the type is a tear drop, or a rain drop, but I think a tear is more fitting tho...

Xrtions - do it!
