I just called the CBC and spoke to a realy nice representative, she's goign to email the city of toronto as well.
I'd really like to get something going, and speak to the right people about this.
I see to much of this going around, and I'm so sick of it that I'm willin gto put in x number of hours of effort into voicing my dissapointment.
If anyone else feels the same, please email me, perhaps I'll try too get somthing together, with a well written, constructive letter regarding this failure of properly representing the "city of imagination" *puke* aestethics.

Whenever I see 'Unlimited' used like that I think of 2Unlimited.
Then I think of 2Unlimited blasting out from 12" subs from a fleet of Camaro Iroc-Z's.
Then I think of the greek ginos from my highschool - they all drove those Irocs. (East York in da house!)
Then I think of souvlakis.
Then I get hungry.
The End.

No sir... I don't like it!

That is embarassing. Unlimited? What the fuck does that mean?

I'm moving to the Bahamas!

Toronto’s Brand Promise:
Engage your imagination in a city of unlimited possibilities.you know, i like the logotype and logo aesthetics. i really do, i like the bahamas identity for the same reasons but the tO they generated is generic. unlimited possibilities? how do you focus a brand with unlimited possibillities? *groan
mathieu let's get this logo pulled and a gomery inquisition in place.
*slams fist

"Then I think of the greek ginos from my highschool - they all drove those Irocs. (East York in da house!)"

I've already spoke to a few other studios. Going to take this to city hall.
I'm tired of sitting back and letting shit like this slide, adn then compain about it when it's in my face.
Something has go to be done, and I don't care how effective it will be in the end, those we're our dollars they spent on this project.
It would have been cheaper to promote the cure for SARS ... I mean, 4 million in THREE years.
Email me if you're in.
- ross0
i really dont care, but ill sign you petition, and piss out a better logo.
- k770
any idea who led this rebranding effort?
- ross0
probably bruce mau..
zing....
- Solid0
LOL _niko :D
Yep - those were good times ..

I'm workign on it, finding out who did what, who approved what and why is it the way it is.

"The typeface of the word Toronto is unique and designed exclusively for the city"
Unique my ass. This is a bad variation of a face that had a lifespan of 15min. Looks like the bastard son of Bauhaus and Pump.
The other thing is that all I keep thinking of is all the shops back in the 70's that were called unlimited. It was a bad trend. I remember shopping at Comics Unlimited.
- k770
it's bad practise to unfocus a brand. unlimited does it so very well.
other than i heart NY, what city has a hype logo happening?
- mathieu0
Just to make it clear, I am not OPPOSED to the goal of expanding tourism, it's not a matter of the content but rather it's aestetic packaging.
"This will be advertised all over the city in print ads and television"
IT's probably too late to stop them from using the logo, I guess my goal is just to voice out my disapointment in it's design.
