OMG hahaha that is bad... sorry
i mean photography without big client list are being look down as less talented photographer just because their lack of super star names.

Setsolid: your comment regarding photographers is off-base IMO
- warheros20
personally, i dont usually look at the photographer's clients, but their images and how they compose the shot.
sure, if youre david lachapelle, then big names are good for you. but i think most of the photographers out there arent looking to photograph a good client, just find the perfect shot.

mabey they way i type it out sound a bit extme... im just trying to say, that designers/photographer with big client are sometimes being rate as more talented then one without big client.
- Mimio0
Or maybe they're seeking out famous people in order to bring some dimension or something new to what people know about them. It's fun to find a challenge and provide an elegant solution to it.
- warheros20
i agree with you, setsolid, totally.
as a photographer myself, that is always what is imprinted in some peoples' minds. it cannot be helped.
i would think the "more artistic" group of photographers do not rely on the client, but rather their eye.
- warheros20
that is a true dimension, Mimio.

seems to me there's a lot of banter here about nothing much at all.
the guy does great work. it's clean, concise, communicates successfully, etc etc.
i don't see the argument?
- warheros20
the argument:
why is it good work? client? what does the client do for work?
there are multiple questions here.

we all know its clean, concise, communicates successfully..... no one say his work suck or fail... for me, i keep hearing how amazing, and insprational his work is.... i just like to know why people see it that way. mabey i missing something.
- forcetwelve0
i think his work is good, and an inspiration. i also think his folio is diverse enough to satisfy many tastes, hence, i don't really see an argument.
overandout from me.
- warheros20
conclusions:
it is clean, concise, refined.
my conclusion about his work:
i do NOT think it is anything exceptional, except in the area of being clean, concise, and refined. it is not revolutionary, it is not pushing the boundaries, it is not exploring something new. imo.
BUT it is clean, new, fresh, concise, refined, modern.
i think that sums up my argument about the work.
- setsolid0
a work that is clean, concise, communicates does not mean its insprational, amazing to me... a lot of designer have done that for their clients... but they just not big brand names.... but they did great work also... but without big names... it seems like their work is just not as good to some people.... why?
- warheros20
i dont think it's client driven, if i see good work, ill say to myself, "that's good work!" but most of the time, it is just "good" work.
it is not clean, not concise, not refined. but just good, and i appreciate their work in our field. but to be good, in my eyes, you must be clean, concise, and refined, all at the same time as a whole. and i think he does that, while most dont.
there is a fine line between good and inspirational. i would say inspirational happens when fonts are used correctly, a correct image is displayed for the client, and a designer can see composition and line quality in the finished product.
- setsolid0
take the work he did for FSC:
replace the logo and name to BlueMedia, but everything look the same... but this time its on a students portfolio... will you still call it insprational?
- warheros20
id call it a bad call on the student's part.
research!
did this happen with this dude?
- setsolid0
S Dallyn if u ever see this msg... pls don't get upset... i still think you are very talented, sorry to use talki about your work as example...

"This is the type of work you place at the top of your bookmark "inspiration" list. Close mouth."

i think the argument here is that s.dallyn's folio, although world class, can't be put on the same level as the guys who are on top of my bookmark inspiration list
- setsolid0
thanks Nick, bookmarked, i seen his work before.
the 2nd link don't work. typo?

Work can be inspirational in the sense that it could give you guidance. I look at his work and really appreciate what he has done by working with the content, and keeping the solution clean and concise; I find that aspect of the work refreshing (in the context of alot of cluttered stuff I see everyday) and could be iinspired to try and take that approach to some of my own projects.
Experimental Jetset has great work. But regardless of other designers you could spend forever trying to say oh this designer is not on the same league as this person. I personally disagree with David Carsons ideas on design and I am not a big fan of his work so I hold lots of many designers (regardless of their clients they have worked for) on a higher level them him, but there are alot of people who really thrive and are inspired by his ways of intuition, so its sort of an opinion thing I guess.
