Mmm Rioja & Tempranillo.
Nought wrong with the occasional splash of chianti, either...
...especially if the bottle's covered in straw :)

the difference lies that the rest of the world "designs" their wines to fit the common taste, but Portugal does not. We don't sell easily ;)

if you wanna be a red neck wine drinker, get a bottle of charles shaw. only 3 bucks.
or get a box. continue drinking even if you hate the taste. eventually you'll be merry as hell.

u won't like wine at first if all you are used ti is Kool Aid type drinks. As a matter of fact, I can't stand wine, and my favorite liquor is bourbon. And if I do drink it, I drink Merlot which everyone seems to hate.
To me, wine is kind of a "keeping up with Jonses" hobby, like golf. Everyone talks about how great it is and ties it into business and social events, but I could care less.
Give me one of these any day: http://www.40ozmaltliquor.com/ca…

i love wine!
to know, you need to try different ones and see which one you like the best. i usually try to buy different bottles every week. i have some of my favorite and thinking to buy a case of it now...

Since i don't know what is available in your area, it's hard to say.
If you want to start out with a clean and crisp white wine, ask which Sauvignon Blanc is good.
If you think you'd like a more fruity and floral taste (that actually pairs well with indian food) see if you can find a Viogner.
For a lighter bodied red, that smells great but isn't too much too soon.. try a Pinot Nior (russian river, sonoma, or willamette valley)
If you want something with more bang to it - but still a fairly light body, get a Zinfandel (red not white!!!) this one goes well with everything from Pizza to BBQ, and has a kinda peppery taste.
For full bodied white, with a thick buttery/oak flavor, get a Chardonnay. For a full bodied red try a Cabernet Franc. All Californian too.
For french it's hard to find anyone who can suggest a good bottle. Look for a Morgan, that's an easy one to like. For italian reds go with Nebiolos or Barberas. skip Chianti. I don't like south african, and new zealand whites are good but a crap-shoot. some australian shiraz is as bold as you can get for a red....
i got more if you want.

natural wine quality has to do with the climate and specific geographical conditions like the relation between hours of sun and soil quality with coastal influences. No way around that. California has similar conditions too. It is known Cali wines are top-notch .
Funny, that around a.d. 800 when the Norse discovered what is now the US or Canada they called it "vinland".

Not true at all, some Portuguese wine is top quality and made with very uncommon grape variety's.
They don't export their decent wine that much however, for decent Portuguese wine, you'll have to go there. For a cheapish tablewine, Monte Velho is quite good for example.

Cabernet Franc the oldest grape. It was combined with the white Sauvignon Blanc to make the now ubiquitous Cabernet Sauvignon

Italian wine: Brunello di Montalcino is not bad at all, a bit pricey though.

Don't go for cheapish Californian or Australian though, they all taste the same and very much taste alcohol.

I'm just fucking around. I'm no wine expert but Port is just too sweet for me I'm sure they really nice and unique wines there.
