It is great! I can not tell anymore the difference between reality and dream states...Also time passes more slowly... I have 2h sleep in the evenings and 2h sleep in the morning. So pretty much a 20h working day ...
- You'll cave in sooner or later and end up sleeping for three days straight.lukus_W2

I'd be very happy to avoid any more all-nighters - but I've put myself through a fair number of 24 hour+ stints.
Horrible.

I avoid all-nighters or late-lates on salary pay. If I was being paid big bonus or there was a possibility of being made partner due to working crazy hours (I'm looking at you banking & law) then I would definitely do it/consider it.
It's bad business to give your time away for free - that's probably what indirectly led the design industry to doing pitches for free.
Now if I'm getting paid to do crazy hours - that's a different story!

i worked as a printer for a number of years - there were often late nights prior to big events and clients needing last minute stuff, but boss would always compensate us with cash, beer, chicken... not always in that order... but at the time it was worth it to me.

i was here until 10pm last night

I have a full time job, I freelance, I'm doing a Masters and I have a new baby daughter and a 2 year old in my house. All nighters are a way of life for me.

What do you guys think about pulling all nighters and not getting paid for it (on salary)? 3 consecutive all nighters every month, usually till 3 or 5am.
- FUCK THAT is my thoughtd_rek
- complete bullshit....'course it happens all the time....look to get compensated in other ways...take other time off, etc..there are ways :)exador1
- My compensation is taking the fourth day off. But I'm usually leaving the office around around 5 or 6am on that off day. Wasn't sure if this is the norm everywhere. Thanks for the input.bengerman
- they count my extra hours and add it to my annual bonus every yearscarabin

I think if you're new to the game young and inexperienced you need to do all nighters, for different positive reasons.
An experienced person should never have to do this. It's counter productive in every aspect. Your brain dies at around 4pm anyway.
It also means your failing to quote times correctly.- this :)exador1
- client calls at 6, needs something done, an experienced designer does itscarabin
- No, they dont. An experienced designer says "we are closed call back tomorrow during business hours"cannonball1978

you guys need to budget your time better. I get super cranky when I have to work super late on salary.... but when I'm freelancing hourly I don't mind at all.
