you kiddos should have worn nt shirts with your user names on the back.
on a side note, does FITC only take place in CA? what kind of similar events take place in the states?
- NegativeSpace0
FITC is only in Canada, hence the name FLash In the Can, but there are other festivals like Flash Forward.

The weekends festivities were a lot of fun. Met lots of very cool people and went to some kick ass parties. Media Temple dinner kicked some serious ass. All in all a great weekend.

Did the venue smell like anchovies?

- uhohseangettio0
basically...
He told Derek off...
There were network problems...
a dude yelled out "You have a s after http://"
and then Derek repeated it to his interpreter...
Then Yugo was like..."I can understand English..."
and everyone busted out in laughter including Derek...
It was a priceless moment...lol

Three presentations which I felt could've been improved:
Glue
Presented by Tom Muller (Kleber)Talked about their work... but didn't really show too much of their recent stuff. I really wish he had spent more time explaining their workflow, processes, how they get inspiration, etc. rather than the aesthetics of old sites like tDR or Ninjatunes. The content management system for clients was really well done, but overall, the presentation could've been a lot more indepth.
The Future by Design: Presented by Robert Peters
The thing that bothered me about his presentation was not that he was controversial, nor the fact that he constantly showed quotes from famous individuals. It was how he just regurgitated stuff most people already knew (globalization, Iraq war, obesity, etc) instead of posing ideas on how we might alter our values with respect to design as well as becoming more socially conscious.
Flattening:
Presented by Dean di SimoneActually, I did enjoy their concepts and speech, but my gripe was how their slideshow (and hence, prepared presentation) was only like 40 mins and they basically had to muster something to do for the remaining 20 mins, which didn't really have a lot to do with the main subject that they were trying to convey. I found that unprofessional.

I wholeheartily agree with the statements praising Yugo.
His presentation likely gave everyone a whole new background on which to examine his work.

whats up with my imposter?!

didnt check out Tom Muller or Dean's presentation.. but i REALLY think Robert L. Peter's presentation was one of the best in FITC... it talked about the REAL stuff and not just HOW we did it, but WHY, WHAT, and WHO FOR we should do... the presentation really brought FITC from a technical (matrixy) world to the real world...
but i thought that the guy was a lil cocky tho.... but hes smart guy who can articulate himself beautifully...
