just to let you know that the magazine is now under new ownership... expect good things
- uncle_helv0
what do you mean, by ownership?

Grafik Mag rocks. Wish it were easier to come by here in the states.
(Houston to be specific)

It's blowing Creative Review out the water at the moment, well minus the Matthew Carter interview in the latest issue, there seems to be a bit more passion at Grafik towers!
Interested to find out what Engage is saying tho'

While I was in the UK, it took me a while to feel comfortable with Creative Review.
I think it was really the "designed", nature of Graphic that really attracted me.
Having Made Thought redesign Graphic helped loads.
When I was leaving, I think the price of Grafik was going up AGAIN. Pricey mag.
I eventually warmed up to Creative Review. I'm sure it had something to do with it's promoting the Design Discussion that took place at Pentagram with Rick Poyner and Michel Bierut.
In any case, two quality mags I don't see much out here.

Eye. Eye too. We get that out here; not really a problem, except it's like 45 US.

It's been bought by the editor [Caroline Roberts].

I have to say, I’m not overly impressed with Graphik. Whilst it’s pretty high on the current trendy aesthetics, I feel it disappoints a bit on actual content. Creative Review of late has been a fine read (however I do get rather annoyed with all the crappy ads and junk you get with CR but I guess they’ve got to bump up the rev somewhere).

I've noticed that as far as graphic design content is concerned they both cover the same topics and usual suspects, but Grafik is obviously more focused.
CR is a little too heavy on the Broadcast/Promo content for me ..

they are different beasts that meet in the middle i reckon

i've decided to avoid buying all that shit for a while. It confuses me.

I could never subscribe to it online. They never seemed to be able to process credit card transactions online. Will they be sorting it out?

I might take a look at the "new" Grafik. I got bored of it being all art wank and no substance and at about £7 it didn't really give any great sense of value.

subscription stuff is not working at http://www.grafikmagazine.co.uk
- Engage_London0
sorry... that should say NOW working at http://www.grafikmagazine.co.uk
DUR!

Rarely buy Grafik, only if it has worthy articles on decent agencies. £7 is too much IMO.

I like Grafik but its certainly not worth £7..... I've stopped buying it, instead I buy more books, seems a beter investment.
- Engage_London0
Thanks for that!
So you buy it every month then! :)
- Engage_London0
should point out you actually get it for 6 quid if you subscribe :)

I did buy 129 (june) because of the write up on DR and Browns work, but I haven't bought any others for a few months. THere is another reason though. They are really hard to find, only large WHSmiths sell it and then only a handful of copies so you have to get in early.
