Hi,
What Material settings do i need to make for a white pressed pill. (NOT A PLASTIC CAPSULE with reflection)
Its for a pharmacuetic company.THNX a LOT
- mogwai0
just a matte white material, a little noise in the Bump channel. maybe a bluish ambient color.
- REDWOOD0
THNX and should i use phong or what should i?
And what colour in the ambient and the difuse?
- mogwai0
phong is fine. white in diffuse, bluish gray in ambient.
really just experiment, get some good reference photos.
lighting is going to be key.
good luck

if you've got the option, lambert suits that right outta the box, or use phong or maybe blinn and bring the specular down to nil.

THNX a LOT i'll try them out
- REDWOOD0
Now i dont got enough shadow contrast on the object. What to do whit that?
- mogwai0
lower your ambient color to more black
- adamfinger0
How'd you bullshit your way into this project considering it appears you no nothing about 3D?!?!
Actually, I'm just messing around. For a rule of thumb, the diffuse color is generally the color of the object whereas the ambient color is the color of it when no light reflects off of it). Lambert has no specularity, but like stated, a Phong with the specularity turned all the way down turns into a Lambert.

Hey damnfinger ;) , thnx
I've solved the problem. There was a problem while modeling in Rhinoceros. Iused a patch from 3 curves. And probably 3dsmax doesn't recognize it as an object and wont assign the material to it. That's why it didn't work out with the materials.
The meshes are viewable in 3dmax. Shouldn't i use patch or what should i?

It's been a while since I've ued Max (I use XSI now), but from what I remember Polymesh (or whatever it's called) is more robust than patch.
And exporting from one program to another is always a pain. Materials rarely come through. Do you have Deep Exploration? It's probably the best, but still far from perfect.
