Well I wouldn't say massive, but it's due for a comeback. Rap is just too big now for metal to gain the market share it did in the 80's. But it will be back.
For a long time I just couldn't listen to alot of that stuff without it sounding dated to my ears. Weird it sounds totally fresh now. Guitar solos, big drums, riffs, chicks, partying and or heavy lyrics without being all grungy loser lyrics - you know "I will destroy you, I am a warrior" ..I mean how cool...
Man, I am digging through my attic right now - gem of the hour - Celtic Frost and classic Voi Vod!! And my bullet belt!! Woo-Hoo!

And anyone remember staring for hours at the vinyal album cover of Maiden's Live After Death album and seeing all the cool things hidden in there...
You know I always remembered the metal kids as being pretty smart cats. Nerdy, but smart.
Our clique used to speak backwards and all the cool kids thought we were satan worshippers who would all make fun of us in a group but individually all of them came up to us to beg us not to put a "curse" on them. What morons, what tools...I guess they're the ones voting Republican these days...

And this started it all in 1980-something or other. At least as the popularity of metal was concerned. If you were there you will rememebr. I was 14..
