so does no responses mean that it sucks?
really, if you think it's not good, please let me know
- cloned0
it's fucking stupid
in my opinion
i tried "it's stupid" but that did not fully convey my feelings
- ibye0
thank you for the opinion cloned.
seriously. Now does anyone else think it's not fucking stupid?
- chimchim0
keep in mind the opinion of someone who posts 1000 times in 2 weeks could be jaded.

or insane
i think you have a concept there, but it needs to be worked a good deal to get it to a place where the viewer will go, "shit, that's clever".
from a design perspective, the presentation also needs a lot of work, specifically with the type treatment. your standard sans serif works fine, but beef it up more and make it really say something.
- ibye0
I didn't spend time designing
it, the concept is what's most important. Also this is not for a design critque. But thanks for the feedback. I thought it worked, but I guess that's why I'm taking cont ed advertising and I'm not a CD at an agency.

his point is valid
but my opinion is honest
i work in this field: web, print, and video
the the opinion i have given is not jaded
great word choice btw chim
you said you didnt want a design crit but your "campaign" as you put it does not try to tell me the bible will solve anyting
the first panel does not communicate anything to me im not being led down a path in any of the panels
your concept has no meaning
- ********0
replace the cello with a bucket of KFC and youre gold...
- ibye0
I disagree, not just because it's my idea, but even if you don't like it, it is pretty clear. It just takes a little word association.
TV Guide, Tour Guide, Life Guide
(tells you the bible is the guide for your life)
yo yo ma's, jimmy hendrix's, God's
(tells you the bible is god's instrument)
car keys, house keys, the bible
(tells you the bible the key to the afterlife)
So again to say the concept has no meaning is silly. to say you don't like it, or think it doesn't work is valid.

"jimi hendix's"

if you have to explain it you did not do a good job visually communicating maybe the word association should be incorporated into your "not design"
good luck though

My sons, do not make fun, for you shall pay later.

honestly the basic ideas are there. but, the execution is so-so.
the first ad - "tv guide","tour guide","life guide". its a little hard to pick up on. maybe you think in terms of one strong visual.
for instance, maybe the ad is a mock tv guide cover. and in the upper left is a logo that says "life guide" and the bible is on the cover.
that way you drive home the concept and put a clever twist on the fact that so many people live day-to-day via the tv.

Thanks for the feedback/comments jpowell.
I thoiught it was more obvious, but that is why I posted it, it seems like people aren't making the connection as easily as I though they would.
I;m not sure what I think about your solution. But it is something to think about.
- AMFA0
well first off, who is your target audience?
that will dictate both what the message is and what the design should look like.
i didnt make any of the connections that you stated except the key, but that didnt even make sense to me.
again, i would ask who is your demographic?
- woodyBatts0
I though the middle one was quite clever, the others i had to read through twice in order to put them together.
In my neighborhood there is a "progressive" catholic church that has some interesting posters outside, one of them says "'ch rch" what's missing?...'"
stuff like that
- Donvitoviti0
I think they need help.. they just dont make sense.
not bashing that you are doing a bible concept... just that none of it makes sense....
- tGP0
i agree with donovito...
i see where you are goign, concempt wise, but you really have to try hard to get the correlations on each of them.... also, i am a christian, so it should make sense that i know that the bible is a "key to life", but if your target audience is more generic, they would not make that connection as readily...
just a thought...
- tGP0
also, from a design/concept perspective, if we were not seeing all the different versions of the same concept on the same page, i think it would make even less sense... meaning, we are able to bring conclusion to what is being "sold", more by its repetition on each ad than by the actual concept...
