Someone use it? it's a good choice?
I'm actually working on a portfolio of a vector artist how never work for web before.
His drawings are amazing but really complex. Flash being crazy to animate its, so i'm looking to something how help me to optimize this kind of works.
I've found this "optimizer" tool linked to many tutorials and i like to have some feedbacks about it.
thanks,

what format are his drawings of right now? if they're in vector format then export them from illustrator as an swf or eps (for some reason an Illustrator 3 EPS works best sometimes).
if they're rasterized then open them with photoshop and save to web as a GIF. Optimizing the file type and number of colours is your only way to save on load time.
Have you considered a smart way of preloading the images so that the user isn't staring at a loading screen the entire time?

drawings are various lanscapes and the site will be lanscape based.
It's all illustrator format! i was trying to export to swf files and then use the optimize tool of flash...
...but i'm actually come back to illi to clean the layers to exporting again to swf. Flash read the drawings like a group of symbols (many many many symbols). So i'm trying to ungroup the files how i don't need to have separated to finally have at last 4 clean layers. Then i will try to use the optimize tool of flash...
it's a good way?

maybe try exporting the image first as an EPS (might take some time to figure out which format works the best for you) and then importing the EPS.
The problem with that is sometimes your vectors won't import correctly. If you aren't going to add motion to the drawings and dont' expect the user to zoom in to see finer detail then why not just copy the entire drawing, paste it into photoshop and save as a jpeg, gif, or png file? then you won't have to worry about flash rendering all those vectors and it might even be faster.
Of course, you'll only find out if you try it.

flash will always tweak with the illustrator vectors/colors. i suggest you just export them all to jpgs, to preserve the drawing. and make a nice preloader for each image.

i say keep them at the original quality
most people have broadband and would rather wait a couple extra seconds to see good work than instantly see some augmented originals

my problem it's not properly the file size but the very slow motions of flash...
- fifty500
so the drawings are going to be animated?
- effeuelle0
yes, this my prob.
- effeuelle0
so the jpg way its off.
at last i can use images for the not animated layers....but i should use png because i need transparency....not a really good way how increase file size.
- fifty500
yeah go with PNG for the non-animated layers. but if the whole thing is gonna be animated then it's gonna be a huge file size no matter what.

try exporting yr base images as gif rather than jpeg if the illustrations are flat colours. You will save a lot in size there

wow i have finally try the flash optimizer

;)
very cool!
Thanks all for suggests,

They don't develop for Mac, most of their potential customers.
Assholes.

the program work well, but the png solution remain the best one.
higher in weith but fast in motion.....
......and i don't understand why it was slow with vector based graphics and less file size weith.
bah...
