i don't know what science and technology have to do with this debate.
mr. wizard can't explain everything with a test tube.

i got like 3000 vinyl on my shelves. i love em but they area fucking huge pain to move around. i def. agree with the vinyl and ipod statement. cds are junk. i scratch them way to much. vinyl just handles better i guess (for me).
my vinyl collection will be reduced significantly if i get myself to shell out the $500 for the new final scratch2 http://www.finalscratch.com/v3/i…
then it will be a laptop/ipod/and two 1200's.

i as a vinyl junkie.
:)
best record store i've ever been to in my life was in my hometown of peterborough ontario,....a place called moondance records.
they had these awesome t-shirts you could buy with a rick griffin design, that said 'vinyl junkie'
gawd i love that store..
used to be a hippie clothing store back in the day, then mike the owner brought in a crate of records one day and the rest is history..
they moved locations years ago, and the new spot, while bigger wasn't quite the same..
i mentioned that to the owner and he smiled whistfully and said..
'yeah...we're gonna have to smoke a lot of weed in here to get the right atmosphere again':)
i spent every penny there when i was growning up..
tons of pink floyd..there entire catalogue basically...from the early stuff, including shit like zabriskie point, to momentary lapse...
all on vinyl..
some excellent bootlegs as well...anyhow..
i don't have a turntable anymore, and i gave most of my vinyl collection away sometime ago..
still have the rare stuff tho..
just can't seem to let it go..

"still have the rare stuff tho..
just can't seem to let it go.. "yeah, some of mine i treasure like art....and yes, i am a dork.
i love those damn picture discs! i also love the future sound of london sleeve art.

I hold on to my Miles records like they were my first born child... glad to know others cherish their wax too.
One of my all time favorites tho is Neil Young "On the beach".... a little known gem. I think they finally put it on cd last year. Neil wouldn't let them touch most of his recording for years.. he hated the sound of digital music.

I hate how bad some of my hip hop records from around 93 - 95 are just the cheapest grade of vinyl. The sound quality is sooo bad. It's mostly LP's, the singles are heavier but alot of my full-lengths are paper thin...
I can't be bothered to buy the re-issues though.
