yeah i thought that a text only solution would work well for black and white. the typography is stately and carefully rendered, and stands perfectly fine by itself. adding a blank box next to the type cheapeans it IMO. on another note, i don't get JK's comment in the post. does he like it, or not like it?

the type treatment is nice - and i think the idea of the artwork was to keep with old money - established bank is well executed. but the old logo WAS just a type treatment, and i think it read better than the type treatment here. the italic is a bit heavy and it readsmor like "bank new york". i liked how they were integrated a bit more in the old logo.

its very intersting to me thatthey are keeping both logos and both names but for 2 different purposes... i wonder how that is going to unfold...

i think the 2 logo thing is stupid. amoco did the same thing with the bp deal and it just looks dumb; new company, old gas.

I noticed this while strolling around NYC the other day. My first impression was a processor chip (as someone stated already). I think it's a great logo but the complexity bothers me. Seems like it would only look ONLY HOW IT SHOULD on a large billboard in full color.

level 2 what was it on?

I forgot, where I was, I think it was in chinatown. It was a large billboard.

well i for sure are looking forward to see the impact, consequences and results of the new logo because if this logo is going to be succesfull than a lot of rules for designing logos are going to be questionable. that for sure is going to be interesting.

"Our new symbol captures the visual language of the stock certificates and currencies that we move and manage on our clients' behalf - instruments that are made distinctive through intricate engraved patterns. To make our Company distinctive, we adopted a pattern of our own, one that captures the movement and vitality of the financial markets."

I get a non-compliant message for css when i look at the bank of ny website on firefox... is that true or an error on their checking? Is firefox really up to being launched properly? noticed a lot of bugs?
- JamesEngage0
is firefox just beinging more headaches for everyone?
I though all that was dying down with netscape being killed off... SAfari can be a pain, but Firefox is full of inconsistancies!
Of course IE could be off key to start with?
- rabattski0
netscape being killed off? netscape = mozilla, mozilla = firefox.

exactly what I'm saying.

oi, you're right, reread your post, my wrong. sorry.

they might also have a simplified version for smaller use... like i know alot of the athletic teams have simplified versions of thier logos to use on embroidery etc...
- rabattski0
