yeah, don't go to meatpacking unless yr interested in new jersey. and if that's the case, go to jersey.
hit up Le Zinc in tribeca. that shit is awesome.
ok, if you have to go to meatpacking, just get some nasty [read:delicious] southern at the hog pit

if it's indian yr looking for, hit up 1st ave between 5th and 6th streets. go up the stairs and hit the place on the right (red dangling hot pepper lights).
other places of note:
- extra virgin (lower west)
- ecco la (upper east)
- bolo (flat iron)
- that rad saki bar on like 2nd ave + 11th street (sorry, it's the best i can do this early)
- freeman's (lower east)
- barrio chino (lower east)
- le zinc (tribeca - again:) )there are so many. i honestly believe that going out to restaurants is one of the best things about living in nyc.
good luck!

oh, there's pastis, spice market, vento... many places around meat packing. i'll avoid dinner time though. it gets filled with posers.
my office is right in the middle of it. every night, on the way home, i witness wannabee hipstars.

Don't believe the guy who thinks there's any think like The Meat Packing District in Jersey.
Pastis on Little West 12th Street and 9th Ave.
Markt
There's another great place across the street from there that has belly dancers. There's also Meet and a great place next to it.

... that's what I heard.

it's not that there is a meat packing district in jersey, it's that all of jersey has flooded into the meat packing district.
that area was SO different just 3 or so years ago. now anytime i pass through there it's all gel-haired dudes in suits, and pimped out girls (who are admittedly hot, but i don't believe for a second there's much more than the looks goin on)
i guess i'm just a bit sore about it cuz i used to like to drink at the hog pit, but it's not the same anymore.

Ignore the Bridge and Tunnel crowd. They end up everywhere in the end: LES, East Village, Williamsburg, etc.
Good neighborhoods retain their personality without the phoneys.

One thing for sure, get your reservations now for any of those classy cute places.

I'm going back to Casa La Femme. Hottest place on Earth.
But bring a few wallets because you'll spend more than $300 for you and your date.
