pastis is over-rated.
I like Lucky Strike better ( same owners, less snobbery )but it;s a little too informal for V day.

oh also think about hitting up 'Jones' on Great Jones street. it's a cool, tiny, cajun/southern joint with great food.

Ono is nice, located on the ground level of Gansevoort Hotel. The roof top lounge is cool too, good to check out early in the evening before it gets crowded. I've seen Katie Holmes there one night. also, there's Maturi in the Maritime hotel, that's pretty good too.
