where's designerror?
he had this sweet deal with this danish host..
it appears that the PS battle galleries hosted on there used over 400gb of bandwidth in the past 4 weeks or so..

granted that mp3 thing, if we do it right and it's designed nicely, could get a ton of action. the concept is good and it promotes our little mp3 fridays.

or
a special area with a list of all the tracks we're listening
and a big 'FUCK YOU, YOU'RE NOT WELCOMED' animated gif.

I am pretty busy with other things but I have made things like this before and I just have to add a few things.
Flash can stream shoutcast streams in real time. it can also read id3 tags so you dont need xml for that. xml is also rendered slowly in flash so if I was you I wouldn't us it. but I think the app has a lot of posibitys and would be a great thing to have.I also have to say that I once had an internet radio show right around the time when all the paying of the man started and if things take off they will find out and want money from us. If I remember correctly it is .007 cents per user per song. This adds up really quick. I think the sponsorship idea is a good idea.
that is all

So are we doing this or what? Anybody looking for some decent hosting?
Well if we are...
I'm thinking a db might be good. Since id3's are generally unreliable and most scripts can only read about 60% of them anyways (including flash's shoddy support of them - and I have no time to dig into the php tag script I'm using it to make it the all-seeing/ all-knowing).
When a file is uploaded it can be parsed, then the uploader can review the data and ensure it's read in right.
That should keep the server happy since it won't have to open a binary file and parse out tags every time somebody listens to a song.

if you don't have the pass word can we make the site redirect you to a picture of my wang?

it's hard to sponsor illegally uploading tracks, no?
I wasn under the impression that this wasn't going to be broadcast.
I would love it if flash's id3 support was better, but it's pretty unreliable.

as usual, a thread goes one direction and shoots to another. I thought you were heading this up BonSeff. Also the legal ramifications, talltyler is right, there are ramifications for public broadcasting. etc.,
