I do not have a problem with Design Week at all - it's cheap and keeps you up-to-date with what is going on on an everyday level. Who did the last Birdseye packaging, who own the BBC2 pitch, stuff that's current.
Grafik is far more pretentious, I flick through and only buy if it has relevent articles on stuff I am interested in (last 2 months were good), I think it is over priced though.
CR I will generally always buy because it has a good mix of advertising and Graphic design and a more leveled approach to design in genral, not just the boutiquey (?sp) stuff.

eye magazine is pretty good.

it used to be good, covering a lot of aspects about graphic design,
now its more the 'arty' part of graphic design.
Altho CR has a lot of ads, they do have better articles and cover more of graphic design.
But the winner is Items, now thats a good magazine covering

Seems daft they took the site down that I did for them, and replace with just that... they should do a blog like creative review do... at least people would be kept up to date.

Eye has recently become independent from it's publishers, and owned by it's Editor (same happened to Grafik) so expect the quality of the paper stock to become lighter and cheaper, the amount of adverts to increase and the price of each issue to rise!
I like Eye magazine, has some of the best writers, and the Art Direction is brilliant (Esterson Associates I think?), but it is too expensive, in fact every design publication is over priced Grafik, being one of the worst culprit (as it's a monthly) and I also think the Art Direction post SEA has suffered a lot! but now I only buy Design magazines off the shelf and only after I see something interesting in them, my last being The Wim Crouwel special of Idea magazine...
