I like Eye and CR better than Grafik, but I only have a couple issues of Grafik so can't absolutely say, if you can afford it, it's good to have all of dem. Even though I'm not on the Advertising side of things, I like the coverage good ad campaigns get in CR. Really shows the cultural differences
[in terms of creative advertising] between Europe and North America...

I don't think I'd understand Eye if I read it and not just looked at the pictures :)
I've been taught/laectured by some of the people that write in Eye, and their lectures used to go over my head too.

i'm more interested in seeing the visuals rather than reading everything, which is why I prefer Grafik to CR.

I am also not really interested in Creative Review or Grafik... don't even like the German Novum that much to suscribe.
IDN Mag maybe?
btw.. is the graphic mag somebody posted the same that is being done by the Marc A. Valli?

based on what I’ve heard and my opinion of CR I think I’ll hold off on the subscription to Grafik and maybe subscribe to something else.
What are your favorite magazines?

for inspiration without explanation i find surfing portfolio sits of individuals and agencies to be the most rewarding.
The main thing that irks me about Grafik is that i think it comes across quite prentious, but lacks substance. I love the print quality, and i'm pretty keen on their layouts and the lack of ads.
CR really fucks me off the way they have the end of an article as a thin column with the rest of the page devoted to an ad.

WSCI like some of the design mags, Design Week's quite good. Grafic looks nice and Eye can be interesting. Going to check out Res after reading this thread.

Level used to be my favorite in terms of a well-designed music + lifestyle mag, currently I always grab, Straight No Chaser, XLR8R, Mass Appeal, Lodown when I can find it and Elemental but just for content, I don't really like the layout of any of these.
For design related stuff, CR, eye and Coupe regularly. IDN, Grafik, How and Print once in a while.
My wife keeps getting this mag called "Believer" that's pretty good, no photos or ads, just good editorial and illustrations.

Granted, design week doesn't have many pretty pictures, but it's quite interesting.
