my site on newstoday? why oh why
i made my site the way it is because I like it this way, for me it's a personal site where I can do what I want whenever I want...
I want to have distraction in the background, I like that the visitors of my site have a hard time with reading the text etc... And yeah I know that it's not supposed to be like this but hey it's mine and I can do what I want
simple design is what I am, it's just my way of living, not only in my designs and illustration work you can see it in my clothes my interior, etc...
some of these comments are really funny

Mullers site is great. It's good and clean graphic design that still manages to have a soul and not seem totally devoided of any identity. You can never make everyone happy, but I for one really like this new way of designing minimal/html websites.
examples:

http://www.sojamo.de/iv/index.ph…
http://www.sw.ofcd.com/

DUDE!!! i thought the world enjoyed the life and work of people like neville brody and david carson to let us move on from rules and regs. I completely understand what you mean about the small type and minimalisim used so much since 2000 in design but then we celebrate it just as much as we celebrate using crazily difficult to navigate sites because its freedom of expression.

danny_shark, that's true but there's a difference between comercial sites and non-commercial one's

i like smpl's site.
we like to think in black and white terms (good/bad design) when it comes to "measuring results" because that's what we're trained to do. and when it comes to being hired to achieve some sort of result, that training is indespensible.
BUT: denying that there is a gigantic grey area is silly.
for example, I have a partner that i work with to develop record covers, exhibition monographs, posters, and such. and the main criteria is that it be "fucked". we develop a peice and then ask, "is this fucked?" if it's too clear, or understandable, then it won't work. Peaople come to expect the work to be fucked, they buy it because it's fucked, and his career depeds on making sure that his work is fucked.
it's the best work i've ever done.
so there's your "purposefully bad" for you.

but why the hell should there be? why cant apples site look like your site, and your site like apples site, call me a hippie but i thought we all started graphic design and art in general to able to change the worlds view into a better one, personally im sick of my tutors telling me my type is out of focus or that the colours bleed in to the background!!! sorry! forgot to say ur works nice and fresh, good to c new ideas ;)

I'm not saying that commercial sites can't be more like mine but I'm just saying that the mass isn't raedy for this, I see it more a challenge to change this and
It makes me sad that there are so little people who understand what designing is all about, especially here in Belgium where the mass of the clients are a bit concervative about design
it's true that you can't learn (or get better) whitout changing and experimenting

that last comment summed up what i was trying to say basically!i just cant see how you can say anything is 'bad'. i keep slagging off people like damien hurst and it took me a long time to realise its because i dont understand him... anwyay, keep on rising dude!

bad is peronal
but there are some rules to follow
