why do we have to not do the things listed above?
sure ideally it would be great to do amazing, original design free of cliches all the time but lets be real.
not every client cares (no matter how much we do). sometimes you have to get the job done in a day, to a shit budget and under extreme duress. that's the way it is. we are 'commercial artists' not spokespeople for fine art for christs sake. we sold out already. we have as much artisitic integrity as the spice girls. (ok i'm exagerating slightly). it's up there with people saying 'there's no room for clipart'. like fu*#. everything hasd it's use.
i believe that it would be great to be free of this stuff but sometimes it's just the way to get a job done and pay the rent.
90% off us have to do pretty ordinary stuff for 90% of the time which helps pay for the other 10% that we do for free or cheap to be able to do the best work we can. if you're in the 10% that does amazing creative work all the time then fair play and good on you. just realise that not all of use can afford the luxury of having our head up our arse. it's a big industry.

I design for money. I can learn to love comic sans if paid enough. I dig drop shadows for the right price. I am in love with bevels when I know there is a fat cheque at the end of the month. I heart audi's.
The day that I am financially secure, is the day that I have a design conscience.
