Originallity is hard to find. Maybe its because every designer replicates the same sh!t over and over. Here are some things to STOP copying!!!!
+ Stop calling yourselves a collective. Youre not, youre a few designers looking for work.
+ Dont put some stupid tag on your site like BETA v1.016. Give me a break.
+ Spell correctly. Dont think youre creative by calling your portfolio WERK. Stop that.
+ Understand typography. My God.
+ Stop with all the stripey sky, purple pink gradient and stars look that is all over VH1. Its Dead!!
+ If I see one more designer with Audi in their portfolio Im throwing my computer out the window. Which leads to...
+ If you color corrected one half of a pixel for a banner ad on Carmax for a room mate's friend who is trying to sell a 1983 Audi, do not list Audi as your client.
+ If you visited a European city and took your crappy point and shoot digital camera in the Metro and took some abstract photo, dont post it and pretend youre a photog. Youre not. Youre 3 lights shy of a 3 point lighting scheme, trust me.
+ Find Work. Do Great Work. Repeat.
+ Do not find some photo of a tank and slap it all up with designerly elements and try and make an anti war statement. Youre bored and frustrated which does not breed good design.
+ You know nothing about Che Guevera.

i think what he said is great. but i do have Audi and some photography on my site :) but i'll be dammed if i didn't do most of that Audi CD and i'll be dammed if i ever post a picture taken with a crappy point and shoot on my site. this is fun... post some more "rules"

he's not saying any designer who does this sucks or anything. i think he's just saying it's time to address these things and move on. and i totally agree with that. it was cool, and still is, but it's time for some fresh stuff

thats exactly what i mean. and i do think its fun to point out the same things all over the place. i cant believe i forgot the "lab" one. that one made me laugh. oh heres another one...
+ Grabbing someones flash code and tweaking the numbers out to produce some random pointless flash file and calling it a "Study of Entropy and Random Order" is totally wack.

and for the record hate does not factor into this. what good is something if you cant make fun of it and talk about it?
