" I'll dig up one of the emails they sent where they called all my designs 'boring'..that was funny..."
you shouldnt be laughing though. they are boring.
agreed that the option they've come up with isnt great calories, but what you're feeding them isnt high nutrition either.
you can still be pro and have fun with what you do. AND show it in the work you do.
cheers mate, none of this is to offend you. just saying what i feel you should know.

i'd be really interested to see examples of the "demographic interviews" and " personas" though that prolly would make someone a tad edgy
gotta love their rebrand on the new direction
good luck , sorry it snowballed into disaster - we'ver all been there

slinky......bwahh....that looked like stelladora cookies...
jevad......dude...take the money and call it a day...I know its hard because we want to show them the error of their ways...
I liked number 1 but the gradient had just a bit too much yellow top left....
Heres my question/worry. WTF are you gonna do for a content page... it turns into 2 logos and a shite nav...... can you darken up the background in that nav in your revised comp from their inhouse? And maybe for a content page put a nice collage of photos at the top.... replace their big ass cursive font with it and just so they are happy put it in the lower right corner with their tag line...
not all inhouse are shite....some were freelancers that had no choice... and they are directed by dumbass marketing directors...
- liquid0
maybe you could take the top nav of the first one and put that on a content page at the top.... as the secondary nav.... might tighten it up a bit and get back to your original IA

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST

OMG........I am so sorry....... so so sorry.........
- DutchBoy0
this is getting worse and worse..
- DutchBoy0
jevad.. here's a trick that might work, i have used this before with success..
take all the bad elements of their proposal and really overexaggerate (yeah, OVERexaggerate if ya catch my drift) those elements... such as the stupid :: in front and after each word..
really spoil the mutha with it and then they might wake up and finally see their own stupidity..
- blaw0
re: overexaggeration
i tried that in a similar situation and, i shit you not, the design was immediately approved.
kinda risky.
- DutchBoy0
hahahahaha!!!
oh shit!!
:|
- jevad0
What Blaw said!! I know that they would be like 'THAT'S FREAKING AWESOME!' and then I would be working with shit 10x worse than this.
- DutchBoy0
well you could also "overexxagerate" your compen$ation for the works..
:)

Seriously - what can I say to them that will make them see sense about that header? I told them how wrong it was having their actual logo at the bottom of the page - I told them how this POS header was going to dilute their brand completely - what else can I say?!

Jevad, Jevad, Jevad....
I dunno what to say bro. I liked your first 3 comps. I wasn't a big fan of the 4th one cause of all the green, but I can see the progressive addition of the green over all the comps (must have been THEIR choice, eh?)
I've had clients like that before and you just want to smash your teeth against the curb because you are so pissed off that they think this CRAP actually looks good.
Their company would look a LOT more credible if they went with one of your first comps, and if I were shopping for houses, I would immediately close the site if it was using the design they ended up with. If it looked like one of yours, however, I would be way more inclined to do business with them.
IMHO, their logo is really good and they probably paid a lot for it to be designed for them, and now they're downplaying it by using some ugly-ass script face and putting their logo at the bottom of their site as tiny as possible. Someone on their art department needs to be fired.

Heres an idea......
email them other peoples opinions.....
write a new thread... asking for a site crit.....nothing negative people... just select your favorites from his and theirs..... and short comments..... then tell them to come here....
- fifty500
oh yeah and tell whoever it is that's choosing the site design that it doesn't matter what HE thinks is good because obviously he's got no taste. He can decorate HIS OWN house the way he wants to, but a website needs to project his COMPANY as being credible, and the designs that he seems to like make the opposite effect.
Yeah and maybe a quick site with a poll showing how many people prefer your designs over their in-house department's designs will help sway their decision.
- jevad0
I dunno man...these bumblefucks are pretty set on this design....
- fifty500
then let them fuckin design it and don't waste your time with these twats
- k0na_an0k0
do it, take the money, and only post the good comp in your portfolio. when they call for updates charge out the wazoo.
