I love clients I tell you I LOVE THEM. They are just THE BEST - ESPECIALLY when they piss all over your comps:
and come back 4 weeks later with something their inhouse marketing department has done:
I'm about ready to throw in the towel on this one. Someone PLEASE tell me how I am going to get them to drop at the very least, that POS header?

research the target market and disregard the comments that go against what you want?
* i like the last one...
Kidding mate

I and the rest of Iceland (wich i think i can speak for in this case)wishes you very good luck on this one...

"research the target market"
AAHhahahaha!!
Mate if you only knew ONLY KNEW these morons...I had a whole online interactive survey set up - demographic studies, persona interviews - the whole fucking works, and these muppets didn't want to do it because they didn;t 'get it'.
- slappy0
oh and inhouse marketing departments should be illegal...
they should only be allowed to communicate on whiteboards and bumper colouring books...
- slappy0
the marketing team didnt "get it"...?
must have been trainined at a microsoft conference

Are you contractually obligated to go with their inhouse "design"?
- jevad0
I don't even know where to start with this fucking POS
- dablammit0
Im part of an inhouse marketing department and i hate it. no one knows what they are talking about, they all think they know whats best design-wise but could care less what the actual person who is doing the design work thinks. and then they disagree that the design is the most important part of the whole marketing strategy.
ARGGGGHHH

"Are you contractually obligated to go with their inhouse "design"?"
No.
But them being the clients and all...and insisting I use this new...erm...'design'..I kind of figure I should.
"Ahhhhh...take the money and run......"

The "project manager" for one of our upcoming (yeah, not in my lifetime) products has done about zero research on the target market and the products leading competitors.
he also couldnt figure out how to drag and drop music on to his iPod in iTunes.
- dablammit0
by the way jevad all yours were better.
although i love their "click here to find out about..." buttons.
rule of thumb...if you feel like you have to write "click here" on your buttons, you are probably doing something wrong.
tee hee.

man i'd either take as much money as i could from their pockets and just walk away as soon as humanly possible or re-negotiate for more $ and more of your design suggestions.
- jevad0
Man on paper this was going to be the best project ever - Info architecture, demographic interviews, personas, design, a brand spanking new DB site and new identity...and now....well...that design. It really wasn't about the money - for me it was about giving this company a fucking great site and all the works - really giving them 110%.
And now?
Well now I am going to give them the least amount of work that I can. And I am going to code the whole site using nested tables and blink tags.
Fucking fucks.

it's looks like a loss/loss situation to me.. so milk em for $
- slappy0
i think jevads concepts slowly went down hill from the first one...
- kezza_20
yep, bend over and take one for the team, then move on.
- jevad0
"i think jevads concepts slowly went down hill from the first one..."
all the concepts after the first one yeah, were done to requests and suggestions that THEY made and said they wanted to see. Then they would be like "oh no we didn;t mean like that...um...we meant like this - do it like this..." etc etc

for what it's worth, your comps, especially 1&2 are sweet. really clean and professional. good shit.
- shellie0
