not so many personal websites like ABC out there anymore.
i agree though, i liked ABC a lot better back then too.
why aren't designers creating crazy websites like this anymore? are we past experimenting? (i hope not)

it's been a while since i've seen the site. it probably attracts very specific audience.
i used to like volumeone, but i am not really crazy about it nowdays.

I don't think people have stopped, but again, like D5ive said, it's a reflection of what's around you. I think in general peeps are feeling a bit stagnant and a bit puzzled on what's next...you see it in music, design, cooking...

yeah, I love their stuff. It is so off the beaten path that it's just gotta be entertaining... I did like what they had a few months ago more tho.
I dunno how marketable it is? Do they do much client work?
- tkmeister0
back then was different time....
i feel like people aren't too crazy about flash anymore like how it used to be. it was like 'a kid with a brand new toy'
all new media goes through this phase.

ABC = Niko Stumpo
i'd like to see his 'portfolio website'
- mr_snuggles0
Personally I blame it on television and 2advanced.
- ricstultz0
I think that wondering what is next is the problem... you just gotta come with it.

In terms of experimental stuff I still think hi-res is tops. I will always think Requiem for a Dream was one of the cleverest sites out there, given what it was created for.

Nick, have you seen any of his (ABC's) client work?
- heavyarms0
It seems like when times got harder economically (less jobs, etc) there became less crazy personal sites out there in favor of more straight forward professional portfolio sites.
- mr_snuggles0
here ric, do a google search on him, lot's comes up..

ric, nope, thats why i say i'd like to see what he does for $$
im really not sure if he even does client work though...
- ricstultz0
hmmmmm. I'm gonna research.
- ricstultz0
no need i guess, thanks snuggles.

but back to personal experimental sites... what with having video integration into flash and what not... why is it that we're not seeing any crazy interactive motion graphics or something....
or is it that those who could are too busy making money and doing actual work?
- ricstultz0
I think the people who have the skills are interested in the loot.... so any experimenting we get is people who are "teaching" themselves flash. Which sad to say, isn't usually worth bothering with.
TF comes with the craziness tho.
- tkmeister0
those who has the skill, also get high demand from clients, almost leaving them no time.
if they have free time, probably the last thing they want to do is turn on the computer and play.

Nick, we see them, they're just few an far between. Remember the old playmore site?
and tkmeister, I know Joshua Davis has turned down quite a few job offers, people hawking him in taxis and emailing him everyday, just so he can do what he wants.
