understood guys.
I am mainly frustrated at how you complain about the navigation when my mom got it right away. I guess its just something I personally cant understand why people who know the internet inside and out are getting hung up on it.
As for not buying the xbox link thing.. well talk to xbox about that.. All i can say.
Thanks though for your comments. but its frustrating when NT gets hung up on something that everybody else gets... maybe we do think to much here.
as quoted by numerous people below. Remember.. its about exploring and learning.... Evertyhing.

The new pics are juicy...but the site is hard as hell to navigate...edit: nvm about what i said about it being hard...i finally figured out how to work it
edit2: now i see the site is really pretty simple to navigate...i'm such a dumbass. Love the new Covvie shielded stationary gun

whatever....
your site still needs huge work. And I doubt your mom understood it unless you explained it to her that it is in an fake Alen language made of random shapes and no English to tell you wtf you are doing. I can't believe XBox is paying you for this. They will hear from me.
I want the last 20 minutes of my life back for caring so much about a game that I would try to defend its honor. You disgraced it indeed.
- gabriel_pc0
why did you even post it if you didn't want to hear the comments we were going to make about it? navigation is one of the most important aspects of a site, hence the complaints...
and as far as "everybody else gets", I find that highly unlikely. It'd be interesting to view the log files for the site regarding the actual time spent there before leaving.
- Donvitoviti0
whoh... dude.. chill out.
its just a site.. yes we can argue things that is whats great about opinions, but what are you doing threatening people???
go back to bed man.. seriously.. very lame and very imature reaction.
- graymatter0
who are you talking to. And who threatened you.
I see no imature reaction. So far you are the only imature person I have read in this thread. You don't know how to take any criticism. All you do is come up with lame excuses and lie about everyone but us understanding your lame site.
- Donvitoviti0
when did i say i didnt want to not hear your comments.. It is my right to defend decisions just like you would if you did a site that is very unique.
Well anyway.. thanks for for your comments... and thanks for not flipping out like gm.
time to duck out after GMs thing... just not called for

i work for a developer in the game industry, and most of the problem stems from the higher ups in the industry and the approval process that goes into everything from packaging to web work. basically, you can start with a great idea and after everyone gets their hands on it at publishing, the dev team, the distributor, the esrb, and the console creator (and any other IP rights holders on whatever license you're using), a lot of times you'll end up with a hobbled together kitchen sink. it rarely (meaning never) boils down to 1 person.
2nd, the game industry absolutely sucks as far as creativity goes (the higher ups, not the actual designers and programmers and such). The branding, marketing, and ideas for a game all comes through a person who thinks they'll make money on it (obviously), and nothing else. Innovation in gameplay?
hell no
Cool game ideas that are not FPS, RTS, or a Sim?
not gonna happenthe game industry is very stagnant and the decisions are made by executives, not gamers.
- graymatter0
wtf are you talking about.
I did not flip out. Where did you get your education from...er people skills from. Stop thanking us for our comments too when you know we are all right about them and you regret posting your wack ass "unique" site. I have seen so many successful sites in my time and this is not one of them. GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARDS PLEASE.
and learn how to take criticism. I never threatened you too btw...Flippin Idiot!

just curious, did yo come up with the concept or the client? if you were following a clients specific requirements and guidance, then i cant say i blame you. ive been in positions where well paying clients want specific things and then ive posted here only to get blasted. but honestly, the site is bad. and yes, i do play games and pre-ordered halo2. if bungie/M$ specifically had you execute their vision for this site, they really need to hire a new director of new media.
- graymatter0
very true indeed but he seems way too attached to it and defended it to personally for it to be anyone elses but his idea.

"I am mainly frustrated at how you complain about the navigation when my mom got it right away. "
HAHAHAHA! Quote of the year!
whatta jaggoff!

you're taking the responses way too personally. granted, some responses have been a bit personal. but still...
i'd have to question your target audience though...8-15?
most gamers don't want hollywood-style interaction. for a game site - we want screenshots, release dates, developer interviews, previews, reviews, movies, and maybe wallpaper or screensaver. that's probably why gamespot and ign are so popular.
- jpea0
yep, and that's something that most of the game co's don't get. content over fluff
- Geith0
post it on ultrashock. you'll get love there...
not.

first time i clicked the site i gave it about 20 secs before i closed it.
then i read this thread (ouch) and decided to give it another shot... i tried really hard and lasted about 2 full minutes..
that being said, i don't really like the site, but then again i don't really like games (although halo can be fun when yer high)... but anyways, i think most of these comments (although brutal) are for the most part on point. the navigation is so cryptic even after going through the different sections i still wasn't clear on what the hell i was looking at.
maybe this is a donnie darko type phenomenon and i just have to give it more time and explore it.. but frankly, i don't really have the energy for it.
and just a note, it seemed kinda chuggy on my G5 here at work
i'd also be interested in seeing whether this was your concept or the clients? it would definitely shed some light on the situation..
cheers

I love Halo but that site... it is everything I hate about the web. Confusing, slow, clunky and there doesnt seem to be any content, or at least I couldnt find any.. I tried to like it, I can kind of see where you are going with it but it really doesnt work. Sorry dude.
- ronaldo0
I thought it looked really nice, but there is definatley some usability issues, even for an experimental exploratory site. Some simple rollovers on the first nav screen would have helped a lot.

guys, let me just make something clear. The creative process in 99% of cases is handled by a web design/development agency. The companies themselves don't have to time to come up with creative concepts, they just sit down over drafts provided by creative agency and pick one direction. In essence you do follow the marketing strategy, but again you do have a big chunk of creative freedom.
With this said, I think Donvitoviti is getting upset because he was obviously involved in a project and was maybe even the one who came up with the concept of alien language. His blood flows strong becuase he thinks that as soon as he posts something that's been done for a big client by AKQA, he expects everyone to praise the hell out of it and how cool it is. Now in this case I have to agree with a lot of NT residents here and say that this site is a total miss. Although it might have a great idea, usability is at 0 and with that frustration rises as soon as the site loads. Hints about navigation should've been provided more clearly.
Eddie, not every project turns out great and you should try to accept criticism a lot better then you showed here. The responses you made are well noted, but you have to understand that a lot of people here also does big projects and understands what can/or can't be done or how the process goes with bigger clients, and you should respect their comments. I'm also in the entertainment industry and go through the same things with movie studios, however it falls on me to provide solutions, especially in the terms of usability and optimization.
In the end, the user experience and visitor numbers will show if the site is usable or accessible, but until then either try not to post every single project that you are involved in if you can't stand the heat from fellow designers, creative and art directors.

poor halo2 :(
