What's the best 3CCD camera on the market for semi pros?

I use the sony vx2100, never had any problem with it and it shoots amazing footage.

The xl2 is nice... but I would like to have an LCD screen.

I use a sony dsr-250...it takes amazing footage

I've used ther XL2 and im not a big fan of it. Its horribly balanced and its awkard shape makes it hard to use sometimes. Just my two cents though.

Panasonic DVX-100A

GL2

what is your price range...

I like the Panasonic 24P... Rented one for a documentary that I'm doing. Now I want to buy a really good camera instead of blowing money on the rental every shoot day.
I'm stuck deciding between the Panasonic dvx100 24P, CanonXL2(cept i don't like the lack of LCD screen) and the JVC HD1 consumer HD camera.
Is it important to do 24P in camera... can I do it reliably in post?

I'm far away from a pro, but I enjoyed the canon xl camera for 4 days, the good thing (that I didn't use is the possibility to exchange the objectives...)
But I tried the panasonic about 3 hours and must say it's amazing how good the grays and dark places are. The point is it was really complicated to manage the cam in 3 hours. Everything has to be done manually.
If you have the money go for the panasonic.
But as I said I'm not a pro, I just got disapointed with the sony service. So I'll stay away of the vx even if it seems to be a really good one.

panasonic dvx100!

yo..
Panasonic dvx100 24P
you have to get it...

dvx-100 all the way, blows away all the canons
vx-2100 is a nice camera too, but the dvx-100 is better

i own the Panasonic dvx100... ive worked with the sony PD-150 and a bunch of the canons... the dvx100 kills them all.
for the love of god, get the dvx100

aparently the xl2 has a greater pixel resolution then the dvx100- that is a huge advantage. seriously.

I usually use the lcd screen to frame my shots. Plus the xl2 is a bulky monster. The lack of a screen on the xl2 is a huge disadvantage.
If I was going for pixel resolution I'd go for the JVC HD1 Hi Def camera... But I like the look that the DVX100 is capable of producing.

my picks:
pan dvx100
canon xl2
vx2100if you can wait you will want to look at the new sony HDR-FX1, it's a 3ccd HDR camera.. i think it should give the dvx100 a run for its money.. the real question will be what is more valuable to you HD or 24p.

cheapest/best to get: starting from cheapest & best
the panasonic gs400, it's 1/4.7 3 ccd chips + $1,400
the panasonci dvc30, (well made & xlr jacks) also 1/4 3 ccd chip + $2200
finally, panasonic dvx1000, pure juice, everything you see now on tv is using one cause of the look + $3500
i would do the gs400, you can buy, for only $120, the beachtek xlr adapter if you really want it, but on the plus side, it's tiny, nondescript and the 16x9 image quality is suppose to be as good as the cannon xl1/s vesions...
imo
:)
