I'm far away from a pro, but I enjoyed the canon xl camera for 4 days, the good thing (that I didn't use is the possibility to exchange the objectives...)
But I tried the panasonic about 3 hours and must say it's amazing how good the grays and dark places are. The point is it was really complicated to manage the cam in 3 hours. Everything has to be done manually.
If you have the money go for the panasonic.
But as I said I'm not a pro, I just got disapointed with the sony service. So I'll stay away of the vx even if it seems to be a really good one.
