The best thing that derived from Reagan was the SNL skit when Buckwheat got shot.

"Or ignoring an epidemic that killed thousands."
That's a pretty broad generalization for a situation that warrants more complex investigation.

The Surgeon General of the time C. Everett Koop says he was ignored. I believe objective facts.

I went to the Capitol Building last and stood in line with like 300,000 other people from 12:00am - 7:00am to pay respects to Reagan.
It was truly an amazing experience. So glad i did it.
I heard the line was only like 3 hours long when i decided to go and when i got there it went to 7-9 hours. I was SHOCKED to say the least at the mass of people there. Democrats/Republicans/Conservati... everyone was there and very respectful and honoring.

WOW, how times have changed.
====================The most memorable Reagan AIDS moment was at the 1986 centenary rededication of the Statue of Liberty. The Reagan’s were there sitting next to the French Prime Minister and his wife, Francois and Danielle Mitterrand. Bob Hope was on stage entertaining the all-star audience. In the middle of a series of one-liners, Hope quipped, “I just heard that the Statue of Liberty has AIDS, but she doesn’t know if she got it from the mouth of the Hudson or the Staten Island Fairy.” As the television camera panned the audience, the Mitterrands looked appalled. The Reagans were laughing. By the end of 1989, 115,786 women and men had been diagnosed with AIDS in the United States—more then 70,000 of them had died.

Good to hear, slinky!
I did the same on Mon / Tue in Simi Valley, CA. Took us 12 hours.
There's an interesting dichotomy between the CA and DC memorials. The CA display was in a small, somewhat plain room--I could have reached out and touched the casket. In DC, the Rotunda brought a much grander display to the event--but perhaps made it slightly less intimate.
An immense opportunity in either place.

It's amazing that Reagan could live so long without a heart.

omg
all that time would have been better spent in a soup kitchen or doing something that actually mean a shit...

I meant FAITH as in religous faith. Since part of the reason the pilgrams came to the new world was in order to practice thier religious freedom thats where that stems from as well.
Conservatism gets its roots from the founding fathers of the constitution, IMHO.
Experience.....interesting idea. I learned alot of history from my dad who EXPERIENCED the 40s, 50s, 60' and beyond. Best history lesson anyone could get

The founding fathers were mostly Deists who felt religious dogma didn't belong in government. Go figure.

i was also just in DC, and standing in the (very moving) lincoln memorial reading the ghettysburg address i was amazed at how far aetheists have taken the separation of church and state issue.
religion, like aetheism, shouldn't be rammed down anyone's throat. that being said, god and faith are undeniably prominent in all of our forefathers' writings and it would behoove all of us to respect that.
IMHO

I don't see any value to religion within government. I see value in them separately. I also doubt that Lincoln would have said he was chosen by God to be president either.

lincoln, jefferson, washington and even franklin wrote a great deal about the strength of character they acquired through their faiths and religions.
lincoln's understanding of the value of god's role in a man's life and his faith gave him the strength to fight for slaves' rights and liberties. i'd say that's valuable.
- e-wo0
Lincoln probably believed that, but privately.
W. Bush was foolish to have declared that publically; while he pleased his most religious constituents, he alienated a great many more.
