there's also the possibility that he wasn't paid by the client and doesn't want to admit it. big agencies sometimes take a long time to pay, if they even end up paying. sounds like thi s project may have involved a long list of contractors, sub-contractors, sub-sub-contractors, etc...
call him up personally and talk to him. emails don't mean shit and are easily deleted. a personal discussion usually does the trick.

but, you need to threaten legal action... that will probably be enough to scare him to pay up... i dont think you can ACTUALLY sue him over a verbal contract tho...

hey derek2...you're in toronto too huh?...cool...I am at Dundas and Crawford, right at TB park...yeah, I am thinking of actually threatening the company first, they don't have the rights to use my work right now, nor does the "friend"...so someone has ripped me off...there has to be international copyright / intellectual property laws that I can exploit...gonna talk to a lawyer...

when it comes to resolving legal issues across borders, i'd say you're screwed unless you have a solid contract.
sorry, mate...i've been shafted a few times myself. screwing his reputation is a great idea if you can do it in such a way that it'll actually hurt his business...like these guys:
