So, here's the deal...I was contracted by a "friend", who I have worked with on many projects in the last 4 years, to do the music and sound design for a major European clothing line...I didn't get a contract, although I kept asking said "friend" to put me in touch with someone at the company that the site was for...he never addressed the issue, although he apparently confirmed my price for the project with them before I would agree to start work on it...I completed the work, everything was approved, and then I started getting different stories about when to expect the bank transfer that was agreed upon, (I am in Canada, he is in Europe)...this was November...then he simply stopped responding to my emails for a period of 2 months...he contacted me finally just as the site was going live to say that he was finally making the payment (it usually only takes 2-3 days to receive a bank transfer from almost anywhere, I do this regularly with overseas clients) this was in February, the same once again in March and April, "I sent the money"...still no payment... When I ask for proof of the deposit, he just keeps saying "the payment has been sent"...amazing...I contacted the company, and obviously they don't care, they had a contract with the "friend"...anyway, I was just wondering if anyone has had anything similar happen to them. Please don't say it's my own fault for not getting a contract, I tried, and i had no reason to think that this "friend" would screw me over in such a farcical manner. Can I somehow make the company remove my work from the site?...any recourse at all?...any advice would be greatly appreciated...thanks.

do you have a telephone contact number for this guy? If not, email and tell him that if you don't receive payment within x amount of days you will be forced to contact the company he sub-contracted you out to and will notify them of his shady business practices. Noone wants a big client to find out of their dodgy dealings. hope that helps, and get paper with everyone you do work with, everyone.

Hasn't happened to me. I don't have any friends.

Seems like there's one of these 'I got ripped off by my (ex-)friend' threads every day.
In the past I've got around the problem by working for free :/

mrdobolina...I have already done that..the company said that they never contracted me, they had a contract with him, so he basically sold my work to them...messy business...
