No, Buss. I don't think you get the point. Any time ANYONE sells out (in the most literal use of that term), it cheapens the song. Whatever associations you had with that song have now been tarnished by the image of a damn SUV.
They sold out. So did Bowie, the Smiths, and a million other bands I've loved most of my life. Don't even get me started on what Michael Jackson did with the Lennon McCartney songs.

Bands selling song clips to be used in commercials didn't used to bother... Then I saw that bloody HP commercial with the Cure's Pictures of You. I can almost understand a band like Modest Mouse (and Galaxie 500) making some quick cash but why the Chorus to one of my fav Cure songs?

My least favorite sellout was HR Block using the Beatles Taxman in their commercial TWO WEEKS after Geroge died. He never sold his songs and they weren't owned by Michael Jackson. His wife sold his shit as soon as he died.

I agree man.....I remember hearing that on the TV. I was like......"Where is Modest Mouse coming from? No......it's not the TV is it!??!"
Ah well.....it's tough I guess. I buy their albums and go to shows..but I guess it's not enough. That Flaming Lips Mitusbishi commercial makes me want to die too.

the first time i heard that, was from the next door apt. where a 70 year old woman lives. She keeps the tv up loud all the time. I was amazed she was into Modest Mouse. Very strange.

Smokes - this album is awesome. Once again chalked full of great one liners and awesome catchy tunes. The only thing I don't like is the Tom Waits Rip Off tune...

i dont think good news is better than moon, its just different. when the drummer leaves the band, you know its gonna be a little different. he was a reeeaally good drummer, if you guys have seen em live before. i love it though. it surpasses my expectations. definitely one of the albums of the year for me. their album artwork always amazes me too.
