some of you people are like plumbers trying to strike conversation at a National Lawyers Association Annual Conference. you either understand the influential force that jay-z has brought to hip-hop or you don't. but i respect why some people really dont like his work.
the real hip-hop is over here:

ok_jayson ok, yer tellin' me straight with an mp3/with some some dude on it who thinks he's got a killer steez/i don't doubt that jay-z's got clout/but the rhymes he spouts weren't tough enough to clean my grout...
I've followed hip-hop for quite some time. I've never been what I would call one of the "heads" that know. But I could make a list with more skills and ingenuity than Jay-Z. Nas HAS skills. He's also got poetic capability and the ability to actually SAY SOMETHING in his rhymes. One Mic was a good example and I'm sure there's plenty others. I've never heard anything from Jay-Z that sent a clear message. Something that made him sound like he stood for something other than "Crystaaaal" and his f'ing Bentley. Something that made me think he was into hip-hop for a reason other than to get rich and have a big ass head.
El-p, eyedea, princess superstar, murs, kool keith... holdin' it down

oh. my. god.
did you just "bust that rhyme" to show how "down you are?"
- JazX0
he eheee you guys go crazy for nothing over a f*ing song, easy fellas, easy.

gilt001 - You stated your point quite clearly so lets just end this thread. We obviously have different views on music...

Jay-Z songs with substance, since you "follow Hip-Hop for quite some time" and you can't find a Jay song that isn't soley about jewelry and liquor, dope in no particular order:
Dead Presidents part 1 & 2
If I Should Die
December 4th
Encore
Threat
Lucifer
Coming of Age
Bring It On
Brooklyn's Finest
Politics as Usual
Can't Knock the Hustle
A Million And One Questions / Rhyme No More
Friend or Foe '98
Lucky Me
Where I'm From
You Must Love Me
Coming of Age
Coming of Age (Da Sequel)
Reservoir Dogs
It's Like That
So Ghetto
There's Been a Murder (I love this song)
Come and Get Me
Streets is Talking
This Can't Be Life
Stick 2 the Script
You, Me, Him and Her
Soon You'll Understand
It's On
Guess Who's Back
Takeover
Heart Of The City (Ain't No Love)
Never Change
Song Cry
All I Need
Renagade
Blueprint (Momma Loves Me)...
ah f*ck it you listen to those and tell me dude don't have no poetry in him, then you're hopeless and you need to not criticize something you obviously know nothing about.

Oh and the one obvious wack rapper that I can point out is you, plese cease and desist writing drivel. Thank you.

kpl - Did I bust that rhyme to show I was down? Nope. But I got the reaction I was hoping for from you and TNDAP.
I just figured that this whole thing was getting so blown out of proportion that as fun as it has been, it's gotta stop somewhere.
Ok_jayson - I agree man. It's time to stop. I'm quite sure that if we were to meet face to face, we'd be able to express our ideas equally, this whole thing would be different and we'd end up having beer and listening to Jay-Z and Nas...
Thanks for making my day interesting, everybody!

4 awesome trax, 2 of which can be put in heavy ass rotation for the rest of your life....but like TF said, wheres fugee...i mean the beatles at?
- cre2done0
Jay Z was good on Graveyard. Oh wait that was because of Big L.
- cre2done0
if you buy a 12 single it comes with a clean, dirty, instrumental, and accapella version of the song. The instrumental and accapella versions are for people to match beats and raps over. They are meant to be fucked with.
- kpl0
so, um, if you act like a fool on purpose, does it really mean you're not a fool?
- kinetic0
man, that's just horrible.
i like some of jay-z's shit and i like some of the beatle's shit..but mixing the two together is just retarded.
a hip hop triumph? i would have to stronly disagree.
so what? some guy took a white album and a black album and mixed em together to get grey.
just because there is an opportunity to do something, doesn't mean it should be taken.
- vena0
"just because there is an opportunity to do something, doesn't mean it should be taken."
of course it does. sometimes that's the only real reason to do anything. don't be silly.
- kinetic0
"of course it does. sometimes that's the only real reason to do anything. don't be silly."
oh ok.
thanks for the advice big guy.
