CX this may sound too easy but here goes anyway.
If you start to get the fear and feel it coming on remember the following.
1.You're not going to die.
2. You know that this is a panic attack
3. It will soon pass.Just being aware of those facts can cause the effects to quickly retreat and gives you some power over it.

and if a part of you still doesn't believe that it will pass, try to accept it anyway.

Hit the gym and excercise! Eat better. Masturbate.

more people than you think get this. what mal said makes alot of sense and those links (holisticonline.com) say good stuff too.
If you know what triggers your panic attacks, that could be helpful in stopping them. Or preparing yourself. e.g have something on u that calms you a bit, like a photo, something religious, somthing lucky...etc.
Always remember it WILL pass and u won't always feel like this.

and don't forget to breathe!

I forget to breathe sometimes.

I often forget to blink. Hence my severely dry eyes.

mal's right, simplicity is the best remedy for this condition. In some ways, having the tendency for this condition myself, it is a very selfish fit of ego fetishism. Just breathe and let time unfold itself. If you were having a heart attack it would be an interesting experience, unlike a panic attack. Would you panic if you had to sleep under the freeway and eat from a dumpster?

only in america.
- driftlab0
For real... we americans tend to have backwards priorities resulting in neglected mental, physical and spiritual health. It's unfortunate.
- kodap0
when I feel that's about to happen, I roll a joint or go watch a movie (preferably Comedy)

I think american's like to create things to worry about.
Do you think that people in other countries suffer from afflictions such as bulimia or anorexia or as many food allergies as americans? I doubt it.

I have learned long ago not to complain about my life as I know how bad people are suffering in third world countries, etc. I don't get your point, people in any country can have problems or extreme stress. For me and probably most people who have experienced it I wasn't even worrying about anything when it happened. Just all of a sudden getting pains in your chest and shortness of breath is enough to freak you out.

I know what you mean about this though. There's a Sopranos episode about it. We have to much time to think about ourselves where people in poorer countries are busy working their asses off.

Like I said....and this works well..

I reckon Americans are far keener to pescribe Valium or something when people have got a bit of the blues. Although i have no data to back this up.

I can't believe how fast the doctor was to to put me on Valiums and Prozac (Lexapro). Kind of makes me want to switch doctors. I can't see what possible good taking Prozac for 6 months and weening off it would do anyway. I really don't even want to take the Valium either.
Kodap, I wish I could do that. Some people get mellow off that. I always get really hyper and anxious. So I don't really feel like I can enjoy that anymore at the moment unfortunately.

pot won't help.
