Have you ever worked wih Flash and it seemed like some extremely buggy shit was going on. I'm working on about 5 moives at once and it seems that I'm having all these problems even doing such simple things that I've done many times before. I'm seeing so many problems and inconsistensies.

I don't know if it's because my current PC at work is a piece of shit or what.

Yeah, it's Flash. You have to learn to accept it's buggy ways.
- kbags0
Maybe you don't have enough RAM to work on 5 projects at the same time. *grin*
Shant, NJ Armo nation says parev.

there are memory leaks in flash, too. you may notice that if you test a movie after just booting up a computer, it exports much faster than waiting a few hours.
also, ctrl + alt + delete and take a look at the cpu usage. if you just hold down a mouse button on the stage in an empty flash file, you can jump the % all the way up to 100.
restart the computer. give flash a lil break. it'll thank you later.

Flash does seem to be getting a little heavy-handed lately.
... i know how you feel. Just reboot and have a pepsi.

jkozoy is right about the memory leaks. To fix it they'd probably have to rebuild it from scratch. Things that'll set off the bugs most are moving things between libraries and replacing assets. I've also noticed that if you keep using a large library it's more likely to corrupt.

cx which version of flash
- kbags0
Must be lucky, I don't seem to have any major problems with Flash. YOu talkin' mac?
- JamesEngage0
there are loads of bugs in it... but what else you going to use :(
- JamesEngage0
...But I also reckon it seems buggy coz people use it in so much more detail... that they do with photoshop for example... I probably use 20 percent (if that) of the features.

2k4 is bug hole, that is true, macromedia even released a dot updater for it. they don't usually do it. They released a dot updater for their every 2k4 shitties.
but flash mx is nice and smooth in my machine. pc here.
I know mac doods are having serious memory problems and all other shit in various Macromedia products. So it is better to take control of the memory..

What's with the Save dialogue coming up under all the palettes? Maybe it's just a Mac thing but it's a pain in the ass.
And why is the Target Path dialogue box so damn small? If you have a load of nested MCs it can take a load of clicks to get down to the MC or button you're targetting.
It's not just buggy, they really need to sort out their interface design, the slow running wouldn't be such an issue if you could get around the interface quickly but it seems designed to waste time.
Sort it out Macromedia!
- ozhanlion0
say long good bye to target path and all that shit. The actionscript pane don't have normal mode from 2k4 on.
- dstlb0
It still has target path. I'm using it.
- ozhanlion0
ops. sorry for wrong info.
- dstlb0
Yep, you'd be a bit shafted without that.

Thanks for the responses. At this work location I currently have Flash 5 and MX on a 800mhz P3 PC with 512 ram (was 256 and I could hardly run the program then) running XP.
Some of the files Im having problems with are sharing multiple symbols between libraries and using nested MCs and buttons. Some of the most simple stuff has been working so inconsistently. My main question I was having is if PC or network problems can cause Flash to behave strangely or is it the software itself. Thanks for the answers.
I only have Flash 5 on my mac at home but when I installed the MX2004 demo it was so slow it was worthless.

macs seem to be shite for runtime flash too... part of that being that it tries to render all your type inflash smoothly... v. annoying

did you fix your blurry text dstlb?
