agreed toshiba, although tanks, way better customer service etc....
get one at best buy or something of the sort and buy the extended warranty, save yourself lots of hassle rather than dealing with a web company.

cool.
My friend runs the IBM thinkpad Centrino and get 8 hours of battery life... he has the 15 inch with 1.4 ghz...
whats cool is since it runs at such a cool level... the 1.4 is almost as fast as a p4 3ghz.
Crunching big things.. prob not.. but for everyday use.. yes.
IBMs are expensive so i would also agree with Toshiba...

something like that would suit you well

the man if you want a nice looking PC laptop with the Apple feel go for this one:
http://www.winbook.com/notebooks…or my all time favorite (a perfect mix of style and performance, even for graphics designers)
- Donvitoviti0
that sony is bad ass.. just a bit spendy for what you can get with the Toshiba
- unknown0
yeah i like that sony or the IBM thinkpad but that sony is way to much money for what it gets me.

well it's like this:
The Z1 sony is made as a perfect blend of performance, battery life and style. Keep in mind a couple of things when you look at this Sony (they might be something you consider). I agree that there are a lot of PC laptops with better performance then the Sony but when you need to have a solid performing machine for work (and Z1 packs a punch, it's not like it's a slow machine and at 1400x1050 on 14.1" you'll have plenty of workspace), a presentation laptop for client meetings (you look more professional, believe me they will be impressed) with long battery life and a laptop you can take with you anywhere (this applies especially in my case because I travel to Europe and back to US often and I need to get my work with me), Sony is just simply the best deal out there. As DonVitoviti mentioned a Centrino 1.6-1.7 actually perform like P4 3.0Ghz CPUs but with longer battery life, for $2000 after rebates Z1 is not that expensive.

Here's what I got about a month ago and love it:

please god, someone tell me why people are interested in huge notebooks????
if you want a massive, heavy, thick system with a big monitor, buy a desktop.
if you want a portable solution that also works well at home as a desktop, buy a monitor and a docking station.
if you *think* you need a massive notebook screen to show off pretty work to clients, you don't. clients don't give a shit as long as the work is good.
if you continue to *think* you need a large display to show off work, drop the cash on a small, cheap projector.
i just don't get it. it defies logic. buying/making a *portable* computer that takes up more space and weighs as much as my desktop.
please, someone give me a viable reason for the choice.
i bought a notebook so i could take it with me easily. so i could work on the road...so i could work at lunch at the coffee house, at the pub when i'm enjoying a beer...i have a desktop to do work on at home. i don't want to lug 6 pounds of computer around with me through airports and to bars. i don't need a 17" monitor taking up my precious lugage/bag space nor my pub table drinking space.
it just baffles me. 15" should be the biggest notebook sold.
- jevad0
what did you get sparker?
I just want it to use around the house when I get home networking - and to take to clients...
