well it's like this:
The Z1 sony is made as a perfect blend of performance, battery life and style. Keep in mind a couple of things when you look at this Sony (they might be something you consider). I agree that there are a lot of PC laptops with better performance then the Sony but when you need to have a solid performing machine for work (and Z1 packs a punch, it's not like it's a slow machine and at 1400x1050 on 14.1" you'll have plenty of workspace), a presentation laptop for client meetings (you look more professional, believe me they will be impressed) with long battery life and a laptop you can take with you anywhere (this applies especially in my case because I travel to Europe and back to US often and I need to get my work with me), Sony is just simply the best deal out there. As DonVitoviti mentioned a Centrino 1.6-1.7 actually perform like P4 3.0Ghz CPUs but with longer battery life, for $2000 after rebates Z1 is not that expensive.
