you have to be very motivated to be successful here...
in my experience, people who hate LA are usually the people who've been chewed up and spit out the other end...

It's like any big city --- competitive, exciting, exhausting, frustrating, beautiful, ugly, crowded, electric, dirty, futuristic, expensive, multi-ethnic, overloaded, explosive. Just in different ratios from other places. What city you like just depends on how you like your mix. Me? Having lived in Boston, New Orleans, New York, and a bit in London ... I like LA.
