new G5 1.8 dual

ok, so i just bought the 1.8 like 2 weeks ago and now they totally upgrade it to a dual. should i be going in and asking what's up? doesn't seem right to change it so quickly. i know technology moves fast but 2 weeks is ridiculous! what would you guys do?

i'm sure they'll take it back cuz that means you're going to pay them more. reason i think it came out the same time is cuz i got my dual over 2 months ago.

well, when i got it, there was the 1.6, 1.8 (both single processors) and the 2 (dual) processor. now the 1.8 single has gone dual. i want my extra processor! i'm going to have to talk it up with them. driving me insane. thing is, i waited, saved and finally bought the thing, and then they do this. it's the same price as i got mine for except for like 50 bucks... hell, i'll pay 50 bucks for the extra processor. folks better hook me up!

Check with the company you got the computer from. I just ordered a 1.6 two days ago. It's not even here yet and the price has gone down. I called the company and they are going to refund me the difference. It's worth a try for you also.

I have both a PC and a Mac
PC// 2.8 2 gigger
MAC// dual 2.0 1gigerpc is faster mac is for hard core designing.. I wouldnt trade my G5 for anything..
god stop bitching computers are what you make of them..its about the designer not the machine. Thats like bitching over pencil or paint.

exactly, I dont think anybody doing design work is really processor bound, I could do everything I do now with a pentium 2 if I had too....

i got a powerbook about two weeks before they released the new redesigned/upgraded one. that was in september.. i've got the dreaded white spots on my monitor so i've got to get that replaced anyway, but i'm hoping they'll let me replace the machine for the new model - using the excuse that i can't be without my computer for more than a day - which is true since i havent been able to take it in until now.
what do you think my chances are? i'm going to call them on thursday and see if they'll let me do this. hopefully i'll walk into an apple store with the one i have now, and walk out with the new one. i'll pay the price difference of course.

apple stores are jerkies, if you'd bought at best buy or some place with the 30 day price protection you might be in luck.

i bought it from apple.com online, and it's been more than 30 days. the reason i plan on calling apple support first is to confirm that i can do this. hopefully if they'll let me, i'll ask them to get in touch with the local apple store and tell them of what i'm going to do.
i dont know, i hope it works, because i really don't want to have to send it off for a repair that (in most cases) doesn't seem to resolve the white spots.. especially since i would guess they're not concentrating on fixing the problem for the Ti displays.

i just bought a 20 in cinema display and a 1.8 g5...it comes tomorrow...then today i get an email with the 20 in imac...half the cost of what i bought and still a huge upgrade from my g3...they emailed me 3 times to rub it in...now i find out that the g5 that comes tom i might want to return...man i am all sorts of bitter...rats
