For ya'll who own your own biz, do you have a bottom line on the size of projects you take on?
For instance, $5g and under projects, seem to be the most easy to come by but you work like a dog doing lots of them to pay bills.
I know someone who owns a small studio and they won't take projects under $20 grand, and they're always lecturing me for projects they think I should have taken for no less than $10 grand. sigh.

Our bottom line is around 3K or so, but it's all relative. If we could charge 1K for 30 minutes worth of Adobing (yes that's my new expression!) why shouldn't we?

runDMB, why arent you making more being a partner?
It would seem you have some talent under your roof and a healthy client list. do your employees make more money than you? (that happens quite often)
Are you having growing pains with your company? seems like you are close to what the common dream is in this thread. yet making less than the peasants. (im a peasant too.)
id like to hear more if you dont mind sharing.

i wonder how much a designer takes in, estonia or romania..
around 4k a year ?
- jox0
yes, i've received several e-mails from people in estonia and latvia wanting to do work for almost no money at all, and their portfolios were not bad at all.

No person on this list is successful, in the 'rich' sense. All of the users of this site are either A) unemployed, B) Bored, and surfing at work, or C) aspiring to be something they are yet not.
The guys that are rich are working on client work!

good point gnizzy.
i still wonder if there might be one, maybe two rockstars among us. occasional over priced ultra-shiek gigs.
If people will pay $10,000 for a miniature handbag, its possible some rodeo drive consumer company pays a mil for a few projects.
