hey Jazx. o.k. Im not from Africa but if you read a lot of history, current affairs. politics etc than you can form a well informed opinion on subjects. Im sure there are many non-irish people who understand more of my country's development and politics than I do.
anyhow, I would have said that it is, among other things the compound effects of colonisation, political corruption that have held Africa (the cradle of civilisation) from 'developing' as much as it should. If Africa had been given a fair deal in terms of international economics would its infrastructure et al not be far better than it is.
I find it a bit hard to applaud those who have held the country down for so long.

Nice map. I don't disagree with you lowimpakt. Just stating my opinion.

Liberia was independent then and look where it got them. US F'ed that one up royally too, but it doesn't even compare to the others.

africa is just fucked up, colonialization didnt help, but cannot be blamed for all the continent's woes. Look at the AIDS epidemic, that is just fucking horrifying.

Your right about that one, even though Thabo Mbeki thinks HIV doesn't exist. What a dipshit! Bring back Mandela, RSA!

You guys know that Laurent Kabila was killed by his own men in Congo-Kinshasa (Zaire)? His own son was in on it, bastard! The highway that cuts through that country is known as the 'Highway of Death'. Lots of rogue rebel fighting and HIV-AIDS everywhere. A great BBC radio show that I used to follow on short-wave while living in bushfuck Namibia was 'Focus On Africa'. Really informative, sadly I cannot pick it up on the 'Net. But if you can check it out, it's NUTZ!

I tell you one thing, African Fighters, especially the rebels are tough bastards. They breed those fighters really young and by the time they are grown men are bad-ass mofo's with nothing to lose. +(x_o)-

Man's nature is a violent one.

things like the AIDS epidemic are not independant events. they are symptomatic of a wide range of national and international failures. That wrangling over discounted AIDS treatments by the pharmaceutical industry was so sick. the pharmaceutical industry is sick.

I agree with you there! Shit you could also make comparisons to modern day US medical coveragesituations too.
Yeah, it's a bunch of things that just boiled over. Tough situation, but still love the place. Never meet so many happy people that had virtually nothing.
- lowimpakt0
yea, i meant the international pharmaceutical industry. they are scumm no matter where they are from
- ********0
Yeah, that's true, and US companies control a lot of it, and there is a big stink in Africa about the cost of HIV-fighting drugs. Pathetic.

My nation demand video, pictures, live footage!

why?
well, less people = more commodities
aids & these wars expedite this.it'll be easier to take the oil once the locals finish themselves off anyway.
perhaps the diamond industry will be forced to release its stranglehold before too long...http://www.wired.com/wire...
