Why do we let that happen? The congo tribes are armed by the brits and americans, and now 4 million have died, not to mention the deaths in neighbouring countires like Liberia, Rwanda, and Uganda.
like it said on TV last night. Apocalyse is happening in west africa now.

do you know how much the arms industry is worth top the economies of the US/UK/Fra/Ger/Rus. What better way to sluice the economy than make up a war or ship you fukin horrible weapons to anyone that will take them.
and no its not good enough to say 'but we only sold the weapons, we didnt pull the triggers'. fuck the arms industry.

And don't forget Angola and Mozambique. These two are just recovering from 35 (!) years of civil war...
It's a shame how we have distanced ourselves from the birth of Mankind, especially western countries who are most to blame for the consequences of irresponsible colonialism...

truely fucked up, child soldiers, aids, drugs, guns...
in the western part of africa, something like 20 million have been murdered since 1980.
why the fuck do we not step in.
last night they had a documentary on channel 4 about Congo...truely the most moving bit of TV I have ever seen.

long time since I havent slept a wink, because of something I saw on TV. if you get the chance watch it.

if your wondering why 'we' dont step in is because the african nations have already been plundered through irresponsible colonialism (is there any other kind) and basically theres no oil there.
whats more fucked is that we somehow allow people/fucks like bush to invent threats and enemies and create wars as a form of neo-colonialism when this stuff, such as Africa/Burma/Aceh/Papua etc etc etc etc etc, is going on under our noses.
The reason there are so many child soldiers is because they were born into civil war and their elders have most likely been killed.

maybe there's no oil? usa?
- unknown0
4cy, the reason the congo is fighting, is everyone is fighting to gain control of the huge oil, gold, and diamond reserves
- ********0
ouch, i clearly missed some news.
in that case, there is oil, but the war might strategically be too hazardous for the US and it's compadres, remember Somalia?
- vespa0
there's loads of oil in the north east of the congo. maybe the country isn't of as much strategic importance to the west as the recently invaded Middle Eastern territories.
- lowimpakt0
you'll generally find that wars are about resource control. probaly started with early farmers fighting over the most arable land. Little has changed just the resources.
- unknown0
agreed. But the fact we are arming the conflict astounds me.
all from our taxes.
'The state of Africa is a scar on the conscience of the world. But if the world as a community focused on it, we could heal it. And if we don't, it will become deeper and angrier.'

US (and others) are more willing to engage in oil exploration with more stable countries, like the small S.Tomé e Principe island, near Angola's Cabinda. Rich in oil and gas, and a 3 year old democratic government, as seen companies like Texaco arriving there wh

oil pipelines to Israel are now underway that go through Afghanistan and Iraq. No such strategically important distribution routes go through the congo - it's pipeline routes that are important rather than oil alone.
Been like this since the days of Magellan and Columbus.

... when the Gulf War II started.
Coincidentally it suffered an unsucessfull military revolt at the time...

wish I had seen this post in time to watch that documentary.
horrific.

resources aside though. How can the powerful predominantly christian west allow such an immoral thing to happen? to 5-6 countries? Mogadishu (?) scared america I thing as Seirra Leone (?) did the brits, and I think they have decided to wash their hands of it. ITs too difficult to get involved.
So I recon they are just going to let Armaggeddon finish and step in. I mean for fucksakes, Cannabilism is rife. Four horesmen kinda stuff if you ask me.
'The soldiers had red eyes, and they were singing and dancing. They slaughtered the priest, cut him to pieces, removed his heart and liver and cooked them. The rest of the group had to pay money or eat the human flesh to be allowed to leave. Another four men, three women and three children were killed.' Among the dead was a pregnant woman who was gutted.

everyone thought "congo" by genesis was duff, but i in fact thought it was pretty good.
