anyway... i'm suprised at your opinions in general. European intervention would only mean colonialism #2 (in some way). If people of certain countries don't want to governed it's their choice. As much as i was gainst government building practice of US in Iraq i would be against the same practice in Congo.

lilbabyleg, these was recently a subject I discussed with my father, especially after watching this impressive documentary about the diamond industry. What I saw there was confirmed almost in its entirety by my father and people that lived in Angola and other southern African countries. The range and power by these diamond companies (especially Antwerp's Beurs) are quite scary. We're talking subsidzed wars, puppet governments and agressive market monopoly (paying politics and other key players, Portuguese or otherwise, to keep their mouth shut)...

yeah, Antwerp.. biggest diamond lobby in the world, mainly by Jews, then a Maroccan lobby that is in a tense situation as well, not to mention the (partly) racist police system that is in the news bigtime... roadblocks in Antwerp against carbombs..
but the center is generally pretty safe.. i am going to live there. :)

BTW, the slaughtering and raping of Africa has been going on for centuries, mostly from Western European powers. Same with what the US did to the American Indians. One word: 'GREED'. But with that being said, I can tell you, firsthand, if colonization hadn't taken place, Africa would be worse off than today. There are at least infrastructures in a lot of countries today. Especially South Africa. The problem is that these skirmeshes shouldn't still be happening, but sadly do. The UN is a fucking joke!

there is a popular term that is used by political analysts today. It's called 'Neo-colonialism'. Except it is done with a Tribalism touch to it. Tribe hating other tribe. What I mean by tribe is massive groups of same ethnicities, not small bands of them. Or what Robert Mugabe does to his people on a day-to-day basis!
