I use Mac’s, always have. But recently I've been designing on a PC. Most of the time it’s a dull experience but I love being able to resize windows from any edge. My question is why hasn’t apple utilized such a simple detail? It helps greatly in palette heavy applications like AE or PS.
Sometimes I think apple try too hard to be minimal.

I´m a PC user and even I hate windows buggy functioning I find the platform infinitely easier to operate than a MAC. Having to use a keyboard button to make the right click is tedious. The location of the clover is ackward and I totally hate not having buttons to ejects my disks from the drivers. several times the computer crashed and I had to reset it just to get the freaking disk out.
Mac OS 9 is also a mess, windows resizing is horrifing and as you open 3 or more windows it gets totally messy couse you can´t find shit. In all those respects Windows is a lot more user concerned.

Less is more but, if didn't use a Wacom i'd get pissed with the one button mouse.
Less may be more annoying?Disclaimer; I'll always buy Mac and will never change over.

they both have they pluses, the one thing about mac is that programs down have an overall background, so your distracted with all kinds of other shit in the background.
saying that tho i havent used a mac in years but when i was in getting the ipod i had a play around with the new os and it looks great, buttons a bit big and cluncky but it was very smooth

When will people learn you can but any mouse you want on a Mac. 2 buttons, 4 buttons, you could have a 15 button mouse if they made them.
I work on a PC all day at work. I go home to my Mac. The only major thing I would like to see is being able to edit file names and copy and past folders from within a programs open window. Like when you are in Photoshop on a PC you can click and existing file so your new file takes that name. Or even deleting files from within that window.
That's really hard to explain.

that would be really really great, ebon. you explained well!

windows isn't buggy because microsoft can't build a good os, it's buggy becuase of all the third party software you install that wasn't programmed correctly... windows is a forgiving os and programming errors can go unnoticed quite easily...
also, let's think about the platform for a second... the mac os is built around a known hardware specification... meaning that there are less variables in play. ergo (heh) when a software engineer is writing a program for the mac os, he/she knows the possible system hardware combinations already... they enjoy the same benefits as ps2, xbox or gamecube developers. with pc's, on the other hand, things aren't as simple... for starters, microsoft has no idea what kind of setup you have, nor can they anticipate what rogue software you're gonna isntall... so they're already off to a bad start. second the 3rd party developers also have to deal with the same frustrations not to mention be aware that their sofware will not be run exclusivley.
the only real problem with microsoft os's is the security holes that it leaves open. again, when you're os is written to adapt to the needs of such a divers group of users, this type of behavior is to be expected...
i'm not trying to prove that pc's are better than macs or vice versa, i'm only pointing out that neither are superior to the other. they are both tools, each with their own purpose and each with their own flaws. find the tool that works for you and use it.

"the mac os is built around a known hardware specification... "
PCs have known hardware specifications also. I can't just make up my own 89bit processor and expect windows to deal with it. If it were even possible I would have to deal with interfacing that beotch in the hardware and give it's services to windows in a 32 bit fashion. Just like when apple makes a 64bit processor. It's not like photoshop knows what to do with 64bits. It just get's things done faster because the hardware is doing the real work.
Hope I understood you correctly otherwise I just geeked out for nothing.

the problem with windows is .dll's, no?
