PCs have known hardware specifications also. I can't just make up my own 89bit processor and expect windows to deal with it. If it were even possible I would have to deal with interfacing that beotch in the hardware and give it's services to windows in a 32 bit fashion. Just like when apple makes a 64bit processor. It's not like photoshop knows what to do with 64bits. It just get's things done faster because the hardware is doing the real work.
Hope I understood you correctly otherwise I just geeked out for nothing.
