yes its been somewhat going on since the beginning, but I'd say in the last 5-10 years it has become much more aggressive.

re fashion homogenisation - it's just that the mainstream industry eats up any form of self-expression so quickly now.
remember a couple of years ago when "customised" tshirts etc were cool, at first I was really happy, thinking how personal it was but everything gets eaten up and spat out for more consumption. That's what fashion is I guess.
Disposable fashion plays to and encourages my short attention span. It offers me pretty beads to wear so that I keep running on my consumer hampster wheel. I don't mind, but they better give me good trainers cos theres a long run ahead.

i just came back from Tunisia (north africa for u us readers..)
it's amazing how many Puma imitations u have there..
i found the latest 'lightweight' models for less than 30 $..
everything there is Puma, Nike or Adidas ..

that's the fashion-wave-meganism.
we all have full closets now, bringing old clothes to the 2nd hand stores, so there is a lot to buy over there - it is cheap, and retro.

I used to freelance for wgsn and I'd basically be turning out loads of T-shirt designs thinking about what would be happening in a years time in say, the youth street market, they would tell me "oh, and the colours for autumn 2003 will be this, this this" its all decided, they have a good idea what you'll be wearing in the summer next year!
It was sad (and boring) to produce original designs and then see similar stuff all over the high street 6 months or a year later.
I decided to stop work there because I felt it was really exploitative and encouraged plaigarism, diluting of ideas/subcultures and the overall demise of originality.

you have to admire a chick who has here own style going on.
If i see a girl with see-through sunglasses, a visor hat, miniskirt, guicci bag and the famous "im sooo good looking" pout i have to laugh and think to myself. Why the fish face, lippy?
really, a smile is so much nicer than that pout. Ban pouting!

exactly, these f*cking ego muppets make me want to slap them, its totally unattractive, unless I guess you're a male version of the same.
are these people born in vacuum moulded packs or what?

I got my see-through sunglasses because they are perfect for the UK - the only glare I might suffer from here is a bright grey sky.
Another reason why I love london is cos the guys know how to dress. Window dressers usually have the personality of a mannequin though.

man you guys are bunch of fashion victims huh? musta sucked to have to throw away all your trucker caps
- unknown0
musta?
- tfs__mag0
musta = slang for must have
- unknown0
sounds like a fashion vitim slang word to me
- tfs__mag0

talking about fashion doesn't make anyone a 'victim'

I've got an article somewhere where Puma disscussed their new strategy.
It was all to do with making limited lines, specialist but small shops in trendy places, to make their product more exclusive. The Sparco team up was pretty radical, and the influence on those low velro racing inspired trainers was certainly something new a few years ago.
If you like 'em wear 'em. If you don't, don't.
Mark my words.
Clarks are coming back.
