Weren't the Times/Independent newspaper s in the UK banging on about the exact-same concept for Britain about 4 years ago?
'Slow news day' + 'Half-baked socio-political theory from bored educational observer' = 'crap-assed column inches' + 'needless exposure'

No shit Nairn.
Why not run free classifieds for job searchers, instead?

yeah, why not make a state out of a huge country on the other side of the planet. It wont happen, it is unprecedented, except maybe hawaii, which is tiny in comparison.
- Mimio0
sound unprecedented?
See. British Empire circa 1820-1955.
- mrdobolina0
Mimio, is it a state? no, so whatever.
- Mimio0
State, Province, Territory...whatever.. it's purely a matter of semantics. Nations have absorbed other nations for centuries.

look on a map, australia is the size of the US.
the 51st state is the size of the entire country, I really d-d-d-d-doubt it.

yeah, then look at Holland (tinyyyyy!!!) and then look at Australia again (huuuuuge!)..

Australia facts.
Half the area of the continent contains only 0.3% of the population, and the most densely populated 1% of the continent contains 84% of the population.

"The CIA's aim in Australia was to get rid of a government they did not like and that was not co-operative"
The US Government has had its finger in the Aussie pie for years...

I'll say it again Vespa. Australia is in no way perfect, but its the closest to perfection i have ever found.
Maybe you should be looking at australia the way it is now, instead of dweeling on the negative past.

move to melbourne.
it's vibrant and relaxed at the same time - isn't that why we got most livable city? Unlike Sydney - which is just vibrant - and brisbane - which is more than just relaxed - you fully have to poke people from brisbane to see if they're alive - no shit - and apparently they STILL ride on wombats to school/work etc!!
i like cream
