they dont really.
but i had to do some research on braille yesterday and on php forms last week, so if they ask... i will just explain that i am using this place as a learning tool. . . which is about 50% truth. well... maybe 20% truth. . .heheh. i do learn something new about every day, but it rarely has anything to do with my work here. i cheat. heheheheh.

another thing... i figure they probably monitor my posts sometimes, but i guess there is a certain amount of apathy in me... it just doesnt matter.
i mean... i do my work. i do it in a timely manner and when i dont have shit to do, i come here and talk the good smack and help out other people and talk more smack and then ask questions and then talk about alien pornography.

where the hell do you work, man?

Clients like stuff for free. And I think the fact is, when you undercharge a client they know it. They are a better business person then you. In a sick way a successful business is about getting stuff for as cheap as possible. They are taking advantage of you and don't feel bad about it because you allowed it to happen. i.e. its your own fault your getting underpayed because you didn't have the balls to negotiate a better price.
Business's know things cost money, if they think a site is 500$ then its up to you to educate them as to the time involved. Once you show them how many hours that are involved they will come around.

i agree with you for hte most part joy, although i don't really feel business owners are inherently evil, money suckers. At the same time, i do feel that a lot of them are savvy enough to understand a deal.
Whether you give deals or not, it's up to you to make it a point for them to understand that they are getting a deal.
They don't know that you're hurting for business. so if they are paying half your normal price, you tell them that. You tell them they are getting a deal because they seem like a good client, but because of this they are at the bottom of the priority list.
Every time they complain about not getting much from you, you explain how little you're getting from them.
It's not like you want clients reccommended form them anyways, as they're be twice as cheap. No really, they will want twice as much for half of what their friend paid.
I'm not saying to do bad work, just do it on your time. The priority when you're underpaid is to find higher paying clients. After your marketing and netwroking and learning is done, then you do their work. And never let the client know that they're the ones actually signing your rent check.

Tell the client there is:
1. FAST
2. CHEAP
3. QUALITYand that they can only get 2 at a time.
- enobrev0
and what do you tell them after they're done ignoring your cliche?
- Bio0
eno, then you show them your "manparts".
- abba_cadaver0
Then you tell them what you need to. You let them know what kind of time goes into there project but more importantly what kind of return they will get from a good design. Let them know that the project you are creating for them has to say all the right things to the customer before the company is even approached.
And I dont think anyone would actually say the choices thing exactly as a I wrote it. As cliche as it sounds its the truth Its just in how you explain it to them.
- abba_cadaver0
And showing your "Man Parts" doesnt hurt.
