When I was in New York I was amazed of how nice people were. They offer to show directions, one could have some nice talks when going out at night, the cops were quite helpful, and the sun was shining.
Time to go there again.

i didn't want to start a riot..
man, all i just said was that it all pretty much amazed me.
must be one of the coolest places to live, and certainly my no. 1 place to go when I visit the US.

NY rocks!
The only thing that sucks is NY Jail. You get arrested for smoking in bars now.
So if you're smoking on Friday night, you get shoved into central booking, you can be there anywhere from 24-48 hours! For *Smoking*. Not fun mang.

I believe that! ;)

no smoke ?
gosh..
that's harsch.you'll have to close all the pubs here in france to do that .. noone will go in anon smoking bar.. not a damn chance..
> i'm a non smoker.. i don't care

well, France will be next soon, as in the end the entire European Union will very most likely be smoke-free in all workplaces (incl. bars).
Jevad will have to wait tho, as the UK is not part of the EU, or they should come up with a law like this themselves.
But then again, I'd like to have one neighbouring country I could visit without worrying where i am allowed to smoke or not. ;)
...but i thought this thread was about the NY tickets... anyone got any bizarre stories to add?

rumors are tossing and turning among those in the bar ind. that they may lighten the law and heighten the requirements on splitting clientele and more ventilation.
Which is far more reasonable to businesses who require the customers who were recently largely alienated by legistlation.
It's an incredibly bad time to cut down business in the service industry.
Regarding NYC being a great place, I completely agree. Although I personally have a love hate relationship with the place.

well, there's the "no dancing" policy, dance clubs have to pay a fee to Be a dance club.
i was thinking about it, u have to pay to enter, but the a piece of the money go to the state, not the dj.
so, more danceclubs become bars, so no taxes and no djs to pay.
so djs have to charge even less (remember: for a bar owner, a jukebox GIVES money to him, dj TAKES money).
oh my!

I don't believe that my life-long fantasy of this no-smoking law is going to be comprimised. That's one thing I'll thank Bloomberg for.
I have no sympathy for you walking stenchbag-carcinogens. Get your smoke out of my face. Eventually, you'll be banned from the streets too because you won't stop throwing your butts on the sidewalk.
I bet you didn't even think that was wrong. Did you?

Of course NY is the only place to live in US -- everything else is way too lame. Besides NYC is US geting as close to civilized Europe as any US city can get...

There's a Tax increase in Pennsylvania that people are trying to stop on Booze.

i think that when talking about NYC you have to realize that it is really its own country. NYC is nothing like the rest of the United States and thats why I love it.
The ban on smoking is really just going to cause more bars to provide "speak easy" environments to their clientelle. They'll start having special back-rooms for smokers or people will smoke in the bathroom. I am a non-smoker, quit three years ago, but no smoking in bars is just absurd to me. What would be cool instead is for select bars to only service a non-smoking clientelle or hand out smoking licenses like they do with liqour licenses (a limited # per city), thus resulting in some smoking and non-smoking bars.

You should see the Anti-Rave laws going into effect:

I was born and raised right here and NYC. It's a great place to be, I cant think of living elsewhere. But I do have some problems with it. Here we go:
-Bloomberg is an idiot, too many reasons to list here why.
-Who is the dumbass that designed the MetroCard. That shit is stupidest thing ever. All we had to do was model our subway fare system after someone else's. Everyone else uses an non-swiping system that takes the card when it's used up. Our system actually creates headaches for those people who stand at the turnstyle swiping the card a hundred times not to mention the amount of trash that is made from these metrocards. Fucking geniuses.
-This city would be out of debt if the police gave more tickets for double parkers and illegally parked cars. I cant tell you how many times i've seen triple parked cars blocking traffic while a cop walks by. We could lose our debt in one week if we cracked down on this shit.I have alotta issues with NYC, too many to list here as this list is getting long, but that's only because I love it.
