NYC or Barcelona?

hello newstoday oracle.
I've got the chance of either going to New York or Barelona for a week in June. Never been to either and just wondered which of these two places you well travelled folk thought was better (for fun, culture, weather, all round coolness). I've always wanted to go to either. Whatd'ya think? Who wins?

I love New York, but I think Barcelona would be a better choice.

dude... seems since you live in the UK that NY would be the place to go. I imagine it would be alot easier for you to get to Barcelona later on if you wanted to. NY is alot further away and less of a chance of getting back there soon. I'd say go to NY

i am from barcelona. i scaped from there and now i am more happy. but for one week of holidays is a nice city.
bad points: too many fashion/design people there. too many criminality (be careful in the center of the city, if you look like a tourist....). the music in the clubs is shit.

I would go for NYC, no doubt.
Never been there though but Barcelona is one of the dirtiest cities I've ever been to. (no offence if anyone lives there) Never checked out anything art-related though, so I'll leave that to someone else.Also, you're 71% likely to get robbed if you walk in some parts of the city at night.

Barcelona is one helluva great city for culture... the Solar festival is the best there is!! minus is the gazillion of pickpockets on the streets.. most people i know who visited Barcelona had to deal with such crime directly or indirectly..
BUT...
European flights are butt-cheap...
so I recommend you do that later yerself.

fan-fuckin-tastic...but on the whole, i loved barcelona more...
well...
to be exact, i loved the costa brava (where we stayed) more..only spent a day or 2 in barcelona...but thought it was great...so, my vote would be for spain...
then again, NYC was pretty wicked as well...

How did you manage to get an offer like that cessil?
I've been to Barcelona and its an amazing and beautiful city and it's definately worth a visit espescially for all the Gaudi archutecture (did I spell that right!) , food and the fantastic night life. Go to Spain its fantastic and the poeple are so friendly.
If you do go take some binoculars and visit the harbour where St Christopher Columbus statue is - he is pointing to America - and you might see New York - hey best of both worlds!!! ;)
