Karma is hitting this right on the head.
you guys are getting caught up in "good and evil" arguments when in fact good and evil (religious terms) are a matter of individual perspective.
in other words good and evil don't actually exist!

its shit like this that makes me criticize the legitimacy of this war, and the fervor of our media, when stuff like this gets not so much as a scrolling text mention on the bottom of a 24 hour news channel.

"All countries dream of world or regional dominance".
I don't think that's true.

That article is interesting, but I don't see anything 'new' in it. And it has a very biased presentation, but not that disagree.
If people want to learn something that is relatively new to me, look at the internal politics of Bush's admin:http://www.time.com/time/magazin…

The Wolfivitz Papers are more terrifying than any monitarily driven initiative, which the entire world is guilty of (look at France, Germany, and Russia as key examples, along with us, of course).
And this is downright terrifying, as well:

God help us, and I don't mean the God that Bush is praying to!!

So what we are saying is that Mr. Bush is trying to turn one of the largets Muslim nations into born again christians.
Now if that the case then get ready for even more wartime fun. But really? No one single christian is that dumb. (Don't go into the lame "Bush is an idiot" rant. It's a hollow arguement.)
We could go back and forth with articles about secret deals and white men in backrooms. I could start sending over articles about grown men crying when the US forces free their city and families of Saddams rule. And little girls giving cards written in broken english saying thank you. Both side are true and valid. But where will is get us - no where.
People in power try to stay in power. If for some reason one of you were able to restle this government down and take control how would you go about keeping that power. You would make your friend more powerful so you could grab even more POWER. You would become the same thing you are trying to defeat and fight now. You would make a system of rules to keep your new found power. Every "revolution" become what they were trying to bring down in the first place.

Karma .. good point. Its the "Punk Music Recording Label" connundrum. Every cause obviously wants more to believe in their cause. But when your cause is anti-establishment, how is it ever possible to avoid becoming an establishment.
As far as religion's role in this war, there really is none. Right now Bush is using religion as just another form of propaganda to make people believe we are the heroes and they are the villians. And Iraq is a crazy melting pot of religions, Kurds, Shiites, Suni, Muslims ... trying to break that country up into organized states under one leadership similar to how the United Arab Emirates has is going to be tough. I think regardless of any rule thats imposed there, there will be civil wars between religions.
And any sort of democratic rule will cause more choas than anything, especially now. And the Bush Administration isn't stupid, they know that. So they are simply going to substitute one dictatorship for another, hopefully ours will eventually ebb away in time, leaving an Iraqi Republic, but who knows.

js_,
Religion is difficult.
Trust me I'm no fan of religion. In fact I find it to be one of the main "evils" in the world. It's our need to explain the unexplainable. And form groups. Science is the same thing - I just prefer their tactics.
I never understand why everyone is so scared of Bush's religious stance. As with everyone it's a way to bring peace to their world. I don't need it - some do.
I have a friend who is going through AA. They do a good job forcing the "word of god" down your throat. If he uses his life line to a god as his reason to stay sober and complete. Let him, and I wish people would get off his back about it. I really don't see him forcing it on anyone else.
As far as the religious groups in Iraq. Yes, a tough situation. It will be interesting to see how the US and other nations handle the situation.
Great web site and work by the way. Someday if I ever complete all these projects I have I will have time to complete one for myself. A working 3 week vacation come to mind.

The evils of war is not the only way to progress. Someday man will figure this out. Let's hope it's not too late.
And accepting it only feeds the flames.
If surviving through murder is the only way to survive then I don't want to.
as for the thread topic....here's what this war is REALLY about. (like it's a mystery) but here are the details.

Again, you are all expecting something different?
All countries have there nasty little secrets and people die for it. Sad. But true.
Again. It's not just America. Quit looking/wishing for the change.
- ********0
yes ALL countries have their dirty lil secrets.
as for religion, fuck religion. religion is one of the things that should someday evolve itself out of exhistance. hopefully sooner than later.
